Monday 09 April 2018 2018 Top 25 CEOs on the NSE Awards holds April 26 TELIAT SULE The Top 25 CEOs Awards, for the leading 25 chief executive officers of companies listed on the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE), will hold April 26, 2018. The venue is the Intercontinental Hotels, Victoria Island, Lagos. Red carpet opens by 6pm. This year’s awards will recognise the topmost CEOs who contributed to the stellar performance of the NSE in 2017. Dignitaries expected at the event include the CEO of the NSE, Oscar Onyema, the executive governor of Ogun State, Ibikunle Amosun, the CEOs of Nestle, GTB, Zenith, Eternal Oil, NAS- CON, Fidson, C & I Leasing, Flour Mills, Dangote Sugar, African Prudential, Access, Stanbic Holdings, among others. For a CEO to qualify for the Annual Top 25 CEOs Awards, its share price must have outperformed the All Share Index (ASI) of the NSE, coupled with an impressive growth in latest profit after tax (PAT). BusinessDay Research and Intelligence Unit (BRIU), which usually carries out the analysis, and BusinessDay Conferences, the organiser of the event, anchor the Annual Awards. In FY2017, listed stocks on the Nigerian bourse recorded price appreciation to the tune of 42.3 percent, which amounted to N4.36 trillion in gains to market players. Sectoral indexes were also very impressive as stocks listed under the NSE Banking Index, NSE Insurance Index, and NSE Premium Index rose by 73.32 percent, 70.33 percent and 51.23 percent, respectively. It will interest you to know that the Top 25 CEOs that made the list in 2017 added N2.65 trillion to their companies’ market capitalisation, translating to 61 percent of the N4.36 trillion gained in the entire market. The Top 25 CEOs of quoted companies on the NSE were introduced to celebrate the CEOs who outperformed the market by adding significant value to shareholders’ investment. Parameters used in the selection of the winners include share price appreciation and a sustainability growth in each company’s profit after tax (PAT). The Award was instituted in 2014 to call the attention of both the local and international investors to the opportunities in the Nigerian capital market. The current governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Godwin Emefiele, was one of the past winners when he was the GMD/ CEO of Zenith Bank. Since its introduction, the annual event has become the capital market bellwether used in identifying the performing chief executive officers and stocks on the NSE. It is to this end that we celebrate these men and women who have contributed to the success recorded by their companies and the Nigerian economy in general. C002D5556 BUSINESS DAY A1 NEWS
