MOS101 – Microsoft Office Fundamentals (40 Contact Hours/4 ABHES Quarter Credit Hours)<br />

- Prerequisites: None<br />

- Description: The course provides an introduction to the fundamentals of Microsoft Office products.<br />

Students will learn and perform basic techniques in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. This<br />

course is delivered via distance education. Computer and Internet Access are required to complete this<br />

course.<br />

PHIL101 – Ethics/Applied Ethics (50 Contact Hours/5 ABHES Quarter Credit Hours)<br />

- Prerequisites: None<br />

- Description: This course examines the dynamic role of ethics in modern society and provides students<br />

with a foundation for examining the wide variety of ethical issues facing humanity today. Students will<br />

explore the relationship of science and ethics, the nature of virtue, the relationship between religion and<br />

ethics, the nature and existence of free will, and the question of moral responsibility.<br />

PHIL102 – Critical Thinking (50 Contact Hours/5 ABHES Quarter Credit Hours)<br />

- Prerequisites: None<br />

- Description: This course is designed to develop students' basic critical thinking skills by means of<br />

several fresh materials and strategies: an easy progression from familiar, social examples to more<br />

complex, political and commercial examples; strong use of graphics; incorporation of multi-cultural<br />

examples and readings throughout; and an emphasis on print and electronic media as a way of<br />

illustrating the use of critical thinking skills in everyday life. The goal of this course is to train students<br />

how to evaluate the claims that responsible citizens, consumers, and social beings confront daily and<br />

how to construct and present effective arguments for their own beliefs.<br />

PHIL103 – Research Methodology (50 Contact Hours/5 ABHES Quarter Credit Hours)<br />

- Prerequisites: None<br />

- Description: This course offers a step-by-step, systematic approach to conducting research. Emphasis is<br />

on using critical thinking, efficient research techniques, and the Internet to produce an in-depth white<br />

paper.<br />

PSY101 – Introduction to Psychology (50 Contact Hours/5 ABHES Quarter Credit Hours)<br />

- Prerequisites: None<br />

- Description: This course introduces human behavior. It includes the study of the theories and concepts<br />

of psychology including the scope of psychology, biological foundations and the brain, sensation,<br />

perception, motivation, personality, learning and memory, emotion, states of consciousness, personality<br />

theories, cognition, life-span development, and applied psychology.<br />
