Perkins says: “If you put a log on the ground and asked someone to take out a chunk of wood from the log, they would most likely swing the ax into the log at an angle and create sliced out section from the log. This action is done with an abrupt angle of attack into the wood log. However, if you asked that same person to drive a spike into the end of the log with a sledge hammer they would use more of a level approach with a less descending strike and more of an approach from behind the spike level with the head of the spike vs. angular. This is the action you want to feel more of in your golf swing – not a chopping action.”
