In this class you will learn new skills including sawing metals, bezel making for cabochon stones, creating rings, and additional uses of hard solder and silver. Create additional pieces of jewelry that you can enjoy or give as gifts. Steampunk refers to a sub-culture based on an alternate version of history, where instead of electricity, the world is powered by steam technology. Time travel, alternative technology, gears and steam are facets of Steampunk culture. Learn about the history and development of Steampunk, see examples of costumes and events, and be introduced to creating your own Steampunk accessory! Construct your own time-manipulation gauntlet, cuff, or amulet to keep. Learn basic wire wrapping techniques, jewelry design and construction, and principles of steampunk character creation. In this camp if you can dream it you can make it - create your first action figure, design custom jewelry, make a new toy, learn how to prepare a model for 3D printing, and create a design portfolio to showcase your work! Using professionallevel modeling software, kids will sculpt, texture, and render their own 3D creation. No prior experience is necessary and 3D designs will be available on a password protected Black Rocket website to share with friends and family. Students will work in pairs or teams for most of the program.
