Scotch College Philanthropy Impact Report 2017

The Gratton Society 10

The Gratton Society 10 The Gratton Society is made up of people who have made a gift to the School in their Will. Members of the Gratton Society are listed on the Gratton Society Board in the Drawing Room of Torrens Park House and are presented with a special scarf or tie to commemorate their contribution. Cross Estate Planning Off Your To-Do List A new year will offer a fresh start on your personal goals and resolutions. It’s also the perfect time to take stock of where you’re at in your estate planning. Making a gift to Scotch in your will is a very special act of generosity and foresight, and we honour individuals who do this with membership of the Gratton Society, named after Scotch’s first and longest serving Headmaster. If you’ve already included a gift to Scotch in your will, please let us know of your intentions. Who Leaves Gifts in Wills? Throughout our history we have received gifts of all sizes, shapes and forms. You don’t have to be wealthy to leave a gift in your Will. Your gift, no matter the size, combined with those of other supporters, will have a powerful impact. Every gift, however small or large, is important and allows us to plan with confidence and to support students through scholarships and bursaries. How to Leave a Gift in Your Will? If you would like to establish a lasting legacy at Scotch there are a number of methods that may suit you. We would be happy to discuss the process and your ideas with you. All enquiries are treated in confidence. To discuss this further, please do reach out to Ken Webb on +61 8 8274 4335. The Scotch College Foundation Assuring Success and Financial Transparency The Scotch College Foundation was established in 1988 to support the strategic direction of Scotch College through philanthropic activities. The Foundation’s first project was the development of the Multi-Purpose Hall on the Mitcham Campus in the 1990s and since then, through its Building Fund, the Foundation has helped raise over $7 million towards building projects such as the Webb Science Centre and the Rosevear Boarding Precinct. Through its Education Fund, the Foundation also helps fund a number of student scholarships to Scotch College Adelaide, to enable meritorious and deserving young people to benefit from a Scotch education. The two main functions of the Foundation are to invest and allocate funds on behalf of the School and to raise funds to support and resource the school, now and into the future. Foundation Membership Membership of the Foundation is open to all donors who have cumulatively given $5,000 or more. There are different levels of Foundation membership, based on an individual or organisation’s cumulative level of giving.
