Instituted on May 7, 1765 by Polish King Stanislas Augustus Poniatowsky, originally in a single class, the Order was ment to procure friends and adherents to his throne. He put it under the patronage of St. Stanislas, the Patron Saint of his country. The number of Knights was originally limited at one hundred. The entrance fee at that time was 25 red zlotys, a significant amount, destined for the benefit of the local hospital. The annual Remembrance Day of the Order is May, 7th. The French Riviera and Monaco were proud that the Order of St. Stanislas has been to this magic place for its ceremonial investiture of new knights. The highlights were the reception of the new postulants in the church of Sacre Coeur in Beaulieu and the brilliant Gala Event with Order, Elite Club and Paramusix in the historic place Café de Paris in Monte Carlo. It was a huge success for the Order of St. Stanislas! “Chapeau, je dirais“! Ute Gerhards A SUCCESSFUL INVESTITURE CEREMONY 184 All Knights and Ladies of the Order of St. Stanislas today are aware of the traditions of this Order and they are proud to be part of an institution that counted many outstanding personalities as Chevaliers and Ladies among its members.
