Passionate Love is a must read for all couples who desire to create and maintain a lasting love and passion filled marriage. In Passionate Love, Pastor George Mwansa outlines how husbands ought to love their wives by systematically drawing lessons from Christ's love for the church. He also gives wives guidelines on how to submit to their husbands – God's way.
INTRODUCTION As an ordained minister of the gospel, I have had numerous privileges to counsel and officiate at weddings. As couple after couple comes for counseling in preparation for a wedding, it has always been evident to me that generally speaking, young people have no clue on what marriage is all about. I won't be stretching the truth if I state that, for most young people marriage is “the wedding” and probably sex thereafter. Even as I have gone through lesson after lesson with these young people, I always marry them off knowing pretty well that they are yet to figure out what marriage really is. Marriage counseling sessions are very helpful, no kidding, but I believe, it is after the young people have said “I do” that they need real marriage counseling – because then, they are indeed married. It is for this reason that I decided to read extensively on this issue of marriage. I have read as many books on marriage as I could lay my hands on. One truth is now established in my mind: marriage has a lot to do with Paul's counsel in Ephesians 5:25. He says there: “Husbands love your wives as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her;” and his other admonition to wives “to submit to your husbands as to the Lord. For the husband is the head of the wife as Christ is the head of the church, his
ody of which he is the Savior. Now as the church submits to Christ, so also wives should submit to their husbands in everything” [Ephesians 5:22-24]. I have prayerfully meditated upon these two teachings and the Holy Spirit has revealed many germs of truth to me which I have recorded on paper, as a “manual” for enriching marriages – including my own marriage. Hence, Paul's counsel cited above became the basis for the writing of this book. photo
