In his address, the minister engaged on the matter of unity in business and assured stakeholders that Isithebe is a potential economic superpower in the province. This is also in line with the municipality’s vision to be a reliable people-centered and sustainable economic hub by 2030. “Renewal EnergyI industry must be in Isithebe, this industrial area should be part of Richards Bay Industrial Development Zone (IDZ)”, said the MEC assuring local stakeholders about the safety of their investments. In the past few months, there has been an uncontrollable violence outbreak at mandeni and the minister took time to lament these unfortunate events. “Violence doesn’t produce business champions. Strong business build a good society”. As part of the legacy for the meeting, Business Forum in the office of the Mayor will be introduced. All in all, the meeting was generally hosted around creating the core of businesses within the community and aimed at finding ways to build a strong economy. This municipality is no stranger to sustainability and programmes that enrich people’s lives as it is currently ranked 6th in the province in terms of IDP credible rating. UMnyezane Awards honors black businesses UMnyezane Awards in partnership with The Economic Development Tourism and Environmental Affairs (EDTEA) hosted an awards ceremony that presented outstanding B-BBEE business with various accolades. EDTEA MEC Mr. Michael Mabuyakhulu set the tone of the night by give a talk on the importance of the awards in promoting black economic empowerment. They categories were four categories that spanned into sectors such as cooperatives, women owned businesses as well as youth owned businesses.
