ADULT & OLDER ADULT REGISTERED PROGRAMS CAVAN STREET PARK - OUTDOOR FITNESS PARK The new outdoor fitness park at Cavan Street Park has been installed and is ready for you to use. This equipment, geared to ages 13 yrs+, is available to those who are out on the trail, or those that want enjoy the benefits of physical activity in an outdoor setting. We are offering a FREE TRY IT WEEK April 23-29 with a certified fitness instructor at the following times: Monday, April 23, 12pm - 1pm Wednesday, April 25, 5:30pm - 6:30pm Friday, April 27, 7:30am - 8:30am Cardio Pump & Ball We work together to increase your core strength and flexibility. Alternate weeks of cardio warm-up and free weights and cardio warm-up and Swedish stability ball workouts. Location: Town Park Recreation Centre Season Start Date Weeks Day Time Spring May 2 8 Wed 7:00pm-8:00pm Summer July 4 8 Wed 7:00pm-8:00pm Gentle Yoga Gentle relaxation techniques including breathing and stretching. Location: Town Park Recreation Centre Season Start Date Weeks Day Time Spring May 2 8 Wed 10:00am-11:00am Hatha Yoga Build on your poses and strength using proper alignment and breath control. Helps to reduce stress and increase energy. Location: Jack Burger Sports Complex Season Start Date Weeks Day Time Spring May 2 8 Tues 10:00-11:00 Core Strength Core Strength training aims to target all the muscle groups that stabilize the spine and pelvis. Location: Town Park Recreation Centre Season Start Date Weeks Day Time Spring May 1 8 Tues 9:30am-10:30am Muscle Strengthening & Conditioning Beginner Using small weights and your own body weight, participants go through a series of exercises to help improve posture, strengthen muscles and learn to stretch correctly to benefit the entire body. This class is meant for beginners Location: Jack Burger Sports Complex Season Start Date Weeks Day Time Spring May 3 8 Mon 10:15am-11:15am Muscle Strengthening & Conditioning Intermediate Using small weights and your own body weight, participants go through a series of exercises to help improve posture, strengthen muscles and learn to stretch correctly to benefit the entire body. This class is meant for beginners Location: Jack Burger Sports Complex Season Start Date Weeks Day Time Spring May 4 8 Mon 9:00am-10:00am Zumba Cardio workout based on dance movements to all types of music styles. Improve your cardio endurance and flexibility while having fun. To learn more about fitness classes and what class is right for you, visit www.porthope.ca/fitness Fees per session: Adults (18 yrs +) $70.05 Seniors (55 yrs +) $45.55 *Note - Fees based on 8 week program. Classes may vary in weeks due to holidays etc. They will be pro-rated at time of registration. Drop-in Fees: Adults (18 yrs +) Seniors (55 yrs +) Jack Burger Sports Complex & Town Park Recreation Centre $9.75 per visit $6.25 per visit Drop-in fees only available if there is sufficient registration to run a fitness program. SEASON LEGEND Spring: April 30 - June 24 Spring registration: April 16-25 Summer: July 2 - Aug 26 Summer registration: June 11-27 * Register during the above timelines to ensure your spot. Registration for fitness classes is ongoing and will be pro-rated at the time of registration. Heart Wise Exercise Designation The Municipality of Port Hope facilities and programs received a heart wise designation by: ✓ Encouraging regular, daily aerobic exercise ✓ Incorporating a warm-up and cool-down, plus self-monitoring during an exercise session ✓ Encouraging exercise at a safe level with options to increase intensity ✓ Accepting participants living with cardiovascular and chronic disease ✓ Offering health screening ✓ Having a documented emergency plan 33 ADULT & OLDER ADULT PROGRAMS SPRING/SUMMER 2018 • www.porthope.ca
