LOMAN’S U14 FOOTBALL CHAMPIONS 2017 St Loman’s Mullingar under 14 football team won the Westmeath GAA Football Championship in 2017 and recently received their medals in the Annebrook House Hotel. Senior players Paul Sharry and John Heslin were in attendance to present the medals to the club’s up and coming young stars. Westmeath Camogie Easter Camp Westmeath Camogie held an Easter Camp for young girls in Clonkill GAA grounds last week. Over 60 young girls registered for the three-day camp that took place last Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 10am-2pm. There were groups of under 8s, under 10s, under 12 and 14s, and they all learned the skills of camogie, took part in the skills challenges and played camogie games. When the camp concluded all the girls were presented with a Westmeath camogie hoody, certs and camogie boot bags. It is hoped that another camp will be held again over the summer. It was wonderful to see the support from Shamrocks people for the dancers. The atmosphere was electric from the moment, Pearse, the man with showbiz in his soul and Jordana, the kick boxing lady in red, were introduced to the tune of Raining Men. They have been chosen to perform the Cha Cha on Saturday 12th of May when ‘Strictly Shamrocks’ is held. They were followed by Marie and Aidan (Waltz), Helen and Ross Brunton (Quickstep), Niamh Gilmartin and Ross Brady (Charleston), Ciara and Tom (Passo Doble), Robbie (was there ever a more stylishly dressed man at a Shamrocks event?) and Sandra Ní Dálaigh (American Smooth), Jemma and Matthew (Jive), Claire and Killian (Cha Cha), Anna and Shane (Viennese Waltz), Casey and Tye (Charleston), Shannon and Gerry (Salsa), Emer and Peter (Tango), Sandra Cannon and Kyle (Jive) and Niamh Kennedy and Padraic (Salsa). So roll on Saturday, 12 May in The Park Hotel, Mullingar when ‘Strictly Shamrocks’ will be held. Get your tickets early!
