56 SPORT GAA Notes - Nótaí CLG TOPIC • 12 April, 2018 MILLTOWNPASS BEALACH BAILE AN MHUILINN DIVISION SIX Our Division Six team travelled to Streamstown on Sunday to take on home side St. Joseph’s in their second game of the league. St. Joseph’s were the first to score with a point before Milltown totalled up four. The teams were both evenly matched for the next few minutes of the first half before St Joseph’s managed to find the back of the Milltown net for the first goal of the game. A few more scores were got by both teams before the ref blew for half time with the score at Milltown 0-07, St Joseph’s 1-05. A torrential downpour in the second half didn’t help Milltown’s cause and St Joseph’s were racing up the scores, including a second goal. Milltown dominated the final 10 minutes of the half and kicked over three points in a row. However it wasn’t enough to find the win and St. Joseph’s ran out winners on the day. Final score Milltown 0-11, St. Joseph’s 2-08. LOTTO No winner of last week’s lotto jackpot, winning numbers were 02, 11, 19 and 20. TYRRELLSPASS BEALACH AN TIRIALAIGH ACFL DIVISION 3 Tyrrellspass 2-09 Killucan 3-13 This game was in Tyrrellspass on Monday last with underfoot conditions very poor. We were first to score a point from Ger O’Toole and Killucan then responded getting the next 2 points and were in for a goal but for a good save from Zach Taylour. Shane Arthur went on a strong solo run and he passed to Nigel Harte who had a well taken point from play. Killucan got the next two scores. With strong defending from Ciarian Corcoran we started a move up field and won a penalty which Joe Hyland scored, Joe then added an excellent point from the sideline, David Lynam then won possession from a kick out and passed to Dylan Donoughe who found Joe Hyland who scored the second goal. Killucan finished this half with 0-2. Second half; David Lynam won possession at midfield and passed to Tom Geraghty who scored a well taken point from play. Killucan responded with a point. Nigel Harte was fouled after a strong run from which Joe Hyland scored the free. After a good clearance from Zach to Declan Feery who found Joe who scored. Killucan responded with a point then a goal after a mix up in our defence. Tommy Ryan was just on when he scored a point from play. Killucan got a point back to draw the game and another one to take the lead. Adam Flanagan came on as a sub and won a mark and a free which Joe scored but it was Killucan who finished the stronger scoring two goals in two minutes and added three points to our our point which came from Ger O’Toole. UNDER 14 U-14 boys had a very busy few days first up was a challenge against Killucan on Monday last in a very wet and mucky pitch we ground out a win on the score off 3-3 to 1-1. Then Saturday morning we made the journey to Shandonagh to play them and St. Loman's in the Féile. First up for the lads was a match against St. Loman's wet conditions making a hard game to play but the lads dug deep and took an early lead, and some brilliant defending holding St Loman's to three points from play. Final score was Tyrrellspass 1-4 to St. Loman's 0-3. In the second match of the morning the boys took another early lead and despite immense pressure from Shandonagh held on to win on the score of Tyrrellspass 4-6 to Shandonagh 2- 0. The two victories ensured a division 1 quarter final spot against favourites Kinnegad on Saturday evening. The two tough early matches began to show and even though hopes were high, Kinnegad proved too strong, and our boys never got going. While a disappointing end to the day lads can look forward to a division 2 Féile final on April 21. Special mention has to be given to the four lads Alan Farrell, Ben Wyer, Liam Dunne and Brian McIntyre who took turns in goals as our regular goalie was out injured.
