Awarded to the very best of guest accommodation 

within the 3, 4 and 5 star ratings. 

HOTELS 

Hotels are larger properties and are managed on a 

formal and structured basis. They must offer evening 

meals and be licensed to serve alcohol. As a minimum 

standard all rooms must be en-suite or have a private 

bathroom. They will normally have a fully manned 

reception and offer a fuller range of food, beverage and 

leisure facilities. Some hotels also offer entertainment. 

GUEST ACCOMMODATION 

Guest accommodation properties are often smaller 

than hotels with perhaps more of a family home feel and 

approach with a less structured service. They will often have 

the owners on site. They range from one or two bedroomed 

bed and breakfasts or medium sized town houses to larger 

guest houses, which offer similar services to hotels. 

SELF CATERING 

These establishments have been either quality assessed by 

Quality in Tourism for Visit England or the AA, or meet the 

standards set out by the Eastbourne Hospitality Association.
