In this place where the fog adds an extra touch of mystery to the pervading icy atmosphere, you will truly feel like you are at the end of the world. To access the “sixth continent”, you will sail through the famous Drake Passage to reach the peninsula’s polar front, where the light creates myriad reflections on the ice-covered landscapes. The magic continues as you arrive in Neko Bay, discovered by the Belgian explorer Adrien de Gerlache. Further south, tall cliffs will appear, marking the entrance to the spectacular Lemaire Channel, and further still, Deception Island, a former whaling station, will reveal its colony of chinstrap penguins. Here, time and space take on a new significance as you are greeted by a fascinating world of power and beauty. Highlights* : • Outings and shore visits in Zodiac® inflatables with naturalist guides; • Hiking opportunity; • Visiting research stations and former whaling stations; • Landscapes: a multitude of drifting icebergs, ice floe, imposing icebergs, tall snow-covered mountains; • Wildlife: Gentoo, Adelie and chinstrap penguins, Minke and humpback whales, Weddell seals, sea leopards and sea birds; • Educational discovery in the respect of environment. * Subject to ice and weather conditions.
