8th, 9th & 10th JUNE 2018 Ballylough Living History Trust & Bushmills Community Association Presents Battle of the Boar & Wildlife Event On FRIDAY we will have a WILDLIFE event with nature walk, plant identifying, bug hunting and butterfly tracking. (Friday is free to schools with teachers—PLEASE BOOK). On SAT & SUN : Discover the wonders of history at this multi-period re-enactment festival & community outing, as we bring many incredible historical characters alive. Featuring re-enactors from these periods : Vikings ,Normans / Mediaeval, Napoleonic, WW1, WW2 And more….. Sat & Sun Admission: (No coach access) Adults £4, Under 16 £1, Car Park FREE. Children must be supervised at all times. ARCHERY BOUNCY CASTLES & ASSAULT COURSE STALLS Plants, Arts & Crafts ORIENTEERING Re-enactments from 11a.m on the hour. This is a field event—please wear appropriate footwear and clothing. CATERING : Flash Hog Roast Pulled Pork Chips, ice-cream BAR 12 Noon —4 p.m. Directions: From Bushmills take the B66 to Castlecatt. From Belfast take the B66 from Ballymoney to Castlecatt. No.53—look for the flags. Parking is in a field. If weather is wet there will be limited parking to avoid the field. Entry may be restricted. School groups with teachers are free to enter the site. Entry from 10:30 am. Last car park entry 3:30p.m. Admission £4 , under 16 £1. Car parking free. We are inviting wild life conservation groups to take part in this first day of the festival. We will opening up the garden, having plant identification and butterfly walks. Bug hunting and nature crafts. Catering: teas, coffees & traybakes. Friday Evening: Music and supper event: Tickets will be released in March: £15 pp. Bring your instrument in case you want to join in. Saturday and Sunday Battle of the Boar There will be a re-enactment show every hour on the hour from 11a.m. Last display at 4p.m. Local music & dancing in between. At 1pm on Saturday and Sunday there will be the re enactment of the wedding between the MacQuillans and the McDonnells.—similar to the ‘Red Wedding’ story that has been told in The Game of Thrones. Saturday Evening: Banguet for the wedding of the McDonnell groom and the MacQuillan bride. Tickets will be released in March. £15 pp. Music and story telling.
