A mosaic is a piece of art or an image made from many small pieces of coloured glass, stone, or other materials. It is often used in decorative art or as interior decoration. Media Freedom demonstrates that there really are no limits to the media that a mosaicist can use to create pieces of art. Glass, ceramic, porcelain, stone, slate, beads, and clay are just some of the many materials used. Entry to this exhibition is free, with many pieces available for purchase. Whether you’re a visitor or local, the street art tour will change your perspective on how you see the city. You’ll be shown things big and small and see how Christchurch has emerged as a “street art capital” in the Lonely Planet street art-only guide book. Find out about the artists and the inspiration behind each work. Proceeds from the tour go back into a charitable trust to keep our street art resources free and available online. Unfinished at the time of his death, Mozart’s Requiem is one of the most well-known settings of the requiem mass and loved by audiences worldwide. The choir will be accompanied by Harry Meehan on the organ with soloists Lois Johnston, soprano, Claire Barton, mezzo, Theo Moolenaar, tenor, and Malcolm Leitch, baritone. Doors open at 7pm. In this free public lecture, award-winning architects from Spektrum Architects in Denmark will present their approach to co-creation and participatory practice, and share some of their superb projects with the audience.
