Inaugural fashion extravaganza. of the fashion industry. The event, (a
first of its kind) was created to drive
the fashion and design industry within
the province, ensuring national and
continental competitiveness and
establishing sustainable business for
the clothing and textile sector. The
challenges within the industry which
were brought to the for front included
lack of exposure, the journey from
cutting room to retail and the lack of
platforms to showcase the works of
South African designs.
“It is with immense pride that we find
ourselves at this juncture in history
as the KZN Fashion Council. The
African Fashion exchange is one of the
programmes that will catapult young
people into territories unknown, with
new opportunities and development
that is yet to be imagined, and the
ability to position our home grown
talent on a professional platform is
only a start”, says Ms Zola Shabangu,
chairperson of the KZN Fashion
Council
