The categories included among others the SMME Award which was won by Memeza Shout (Pty) Ltd. Memeza Shout is a Safety Programme that empowers homeowners in low income residential areas through a network of smart passive alarms linked to SAPS sector policing vehicles, police stations, community policing forums and trusted neighbours. On activation SMSes are sent to preselected cell numbers alerting the police station and the CPF. A siren mounted outside the home alerts the broader community and repels intruders. According to the Minister of Trade and Industry, Dr Rob Davies these awards recognise business excellence and celebrate enterprises that promote the spirit of success and innovation as well as job creation, good business ethics and quality. “The awards are an opportunity for government, and South Africa as a whole, to recognise exceptional businesses and the businesspeople who drive them, ranging from emerging start-ups to established business institutions. These awards bring together all single-sectored awards, including technology, manufacturing and women in business. The awards honour companies and enterprises that promote the spirt of success and innovation along with job creation, business ethics and quality,” Here are the winners in all categories; Black Industrialist Award – Thata Ubeke Manufacturing, Enterprise Development – Sumitomo Rubber SA, Exporter Award – Aerosud Aviation, Investor Award – Sumitomo Rubber SA, Manufacturer Award – Thata Ubeke Manufacturing, Play your part Award – Clover Mama Afrika Trust, Proudly South African Member Company Award – La Van Skin and Body Excellence System, SMME Award – Memeza Shout, Women-owned business award – BBD Steel Supplies and Young Entrepreneur Award- Grindbow Engineers and Technical Services.
