BEYOND BORDERS TO LET GO LITERATURE | EXPERIENCE ANNU SURESH When life paved the road so challenging, I touched my heart that was indomitably beating Wondered what life lesson to choose from, The many advises Amma gave to make life venturesome. To forget all that makes your heart ding And to forgive all those who made it sting Let go, she once said And I always did. As a child, when I ranted about the toy my neighbour broke Amma told me, it’s okay to forgive him, as it won’t matter to me after some years When I cried over the exams that I performed badly She asked me to forget about it, and said what’s ahead will make this look silly. When teenage gave me the first heartbreak of love She asked me to let go of it, saying those would be stories of laughter in the future When I behaved frantic and complained about life during my downfall, She told me to start afresh, and believe in the magic of new beginnings And every time her advises came I disregarded them calling it lame As in the heat of the moment It is difficult for the heart to mend. Years later, Coming home in the evening, Switching from the role of entrepreneur to the responsible mother, Holding my beloved’s hands, I smile at how my kids fight over their toys. After all, Amma was right.

BEYOND BORDERS HOW DO WE LITERATURE | POETRY FORGIVE ANURADHA SHARMA People killed in war Innocent orphans walking battered streets Thinking of their future? Living the moment? Expect them to forgive and forget? Lunatic guns down children naive Unaware unarmed unguarded Oblivious of impending doom Parents shattered Mom and dad can’t forgive and forget! Beautiful young girl - victim of man’s lust Shattered blank gaze Life impaired by brutal animal’s lechery Vegetable – living or dead? Does she even remember, to forgive or forget? Conflicts between groups Argument over an issue Blood- shed and death Hatred is epidemic, humans immune to love? Who will forgive or who will forget? Deceived by the only true love Now villain or foe Broken heart keeps you awake Treachery cries in vain Can one forgive or can one forget? Jealous friend murders Dead man vanishes from earth Memories torment ones alive Every object reminiscent Do you expect me to forgive or forget? It’s a beautiful world Heart- wrenching event occurs Devastating unfortunate event Leaves person reeling in frozen time How can one forgive and forget?
