24 Wigan’s Den The Rotary Club in Wigan hopes to donate cash to local community groups at its next ‘Dragons Den’ event. Local groups based in postcode districts of WN1, WN3, WN5, WN6 are invited to submit requests for funding, which if selected, will be invited to put their case to ‘The Dragons’ in a three minute presentation. The funds granted to community groups in the ‘Dragon’s Den’ initiative come directly from money raised by Wigan Rotary’s Santa Float operation in December. Wigan Rotary Club President Gwyneth Millard said: “In these difficult times, I’m sure there are groups in the Wigan area that could use a donation of a few hundred pounds to help with their project or event. “Twelve groups were successful last year, but the Dragons had to decline a number of applications.” “Last year’s groups ranging from an Over 60’s group to a mother and toddler group entered ‘The Den’ and came away with a donation.” Bids of up to £500 can be considered, but the closing date for entries is Sunday, April 29. Full details and an application form are available via www.wiganrotaryclub.org.uk or by ringing 07813 471000.
