34 Ruff play

34 Ruff play Wigan Bulldogs ARLFC is on the lookout for the members to join the ranks. The amateur rugby league club play games at Bulldog Park, Scot Lane playing fields, and are looking for new players. Darren Lindley, Chairman of the club said: “I’ve been here for 20 years and I took over nine years ago, when we only had an open age team. “I turned it around, and now we’ve had a juniors team for five year. We’ve also had national lottery funding that has helped a lot. “The open age team is in the NW Men’s League Division 3 and the kids are in the NW Junior League. “There are a lot of clubs in Wigan, so you’re almost fighting to recruit. But all our kids are new to the sport, so they’re learning the game with us. “One of our players two years ago went to Canada with the England Lion Hearts. It’s a big thing for any amateur player. And we’ve got another player going to Italy with them in July. “We’re on the up this year. We’re getting more notice now, and we’re getting recognition for all the hard work.” The team trains and plays at Scot Lane playing fields on Stadium Way. Open age training is Thursday, 6.30pm and kids training is on a Saturday morning at 10.30am. For more information about the club please call Darren on 07761 361816 or Natalie on 07921 506719.
