4. Involvement of national governments and stakeholders The initiative for the protocol aims to establish a joint procedure for how to monitor marketing of HFSS foods and beverages, which will allow for comparisons between the Nordic countries. The ambition is therefore to ensure that the protocol is known by governmental bodies as well as national research institutions in the respective Nordic countries. In addition, the protocol should be known to other stakeholders, like the food industries and consumer organizations. This is important in order to avoid discussions around methods instead of results when the protocol is being used. A draft of the protocol has been circulated to a number of stakeholders who were given the opportunity to comment and give inputs on the protocol in order to refine and adjust it.
