Funmilayo said she packed out of their matrimonial home without his consent, adding that that Adeola had also turned her into a punching bag and “beats me in front of our children and neighbours. In her judgment, the President of the court, Mrs Ibironke Elabor said: “Since both parties consented to the dissolution of their marriage, this court has no choice than to dissolve the marriage.” She gave the custody of the children to the respondent and instructed the petitioner to pay N30,000 monthly for their upkeep, education and other bills. :Vanguard News :@vanguardnews :@vanguardnews NEWS HOTLINES: 08052867058 ‘I'm a truck driver by day, robber at night’ By Evelyn Usman LAGOS—A truck driver arrested in the early hours of yesterday in Badagry area of Lagos State, has said he drives a truck by day and turns to a robber at night, “but I do not carry gun.” He was nabbed after a foiled robbery operation and an attempt to rape his female victim. It was gathered that other tenants in the compound had joined in the search for the little baby, Abdulaziz Abubakar Aji, who had been declared missing by the parents before the discovery of his remains, yesterday. Vanguard also gathered from sources in the street that the father, Abubakar Aji, discovered the lifeless body of the boy floating in the plastic container, when he went for water for his early morning prayer (salat). The source disclosed that Abubakar Aji brought home his fourth wife on Monday and that they are suspecting foul play, as the mother of the late boy went to the toilet only to return to find her second child, Abdulaziz, missing. “The perpetrator of the act must have capitalised on the absence of the mother to dump the baby inside the water container and cover it for the baby to die,” the source said. Landlord speaks Attempts to speak with the baby’s parents proved abortive. But their landlord, Ali-Isu Abubakar, described the incident as unfortunate, saying the boy was a lively baby loved by all. He said he was performing his early morning prayer when he heard people crying, only for him to come downstairs after his prayers to discover that the baby declared missing had been found dead in a water container. His words: “I am disappointed and it is God Almighty who is the Creator of heavens and earth that actually knows all that happened. “The father just married a new wife on Monday. He brought her home here. This is the second night the new wife has spent in the house. “It is unfortunate. And the child is the baby of the house. “He is just about seven to eight months. The mother has just two of them for now, Abdulaziz and Fatima. “Last night, the small girl said she couldn't sleep in her father's room and decided to sleep with the other Hausa neighbour in their room. “Who knows, maybe if she had slept in the same room, the two of them would have been probably dumped into the water container.” Arrests The baby’s father, the mother and the second wife have since been arrested by men of the Aideyan Divisional Headquarters. Contacted, Edo State Police image-maker, Chidi Nwabuzor, said he was not aware of the incident and that he was in a meeting. 10-yr-old girl raped by 50-yr-old man, son narrates ordeal: They always lured me to their house with N20 By Simon Ebegbulem BENIN—A 10-year-old girl, allegedly defiled by a 50- year-old man and his son, aged 16, yesterday, narrated how the men always tempted her with N20 whenever they wanted to sleep with her. Confirming the incident, which had thrown the entire area into mourning, the Police image-maker, Femi Joseph, described the death of the two minors as sad and unfortunate. Joseph said that “there was no trace that the boys were killed and so far we have not made any arrest on the matter. “We did not suspect any foul play because it appeared as if the kids were playing inside the deep freezer. “They were trapped when there was nobody at home to help them open the door. But it is really a sad and an unfortunate incident.” He further pointed out that the second accused person is a minor and should be granted bail. But his efforts to secure their bail did not scale through as Chief Magistrate Akhere said the matter will not be tried in his court. The court transferred the case to a family court where the accused persons’ bail will be considered upon resumption next week. Meanwhile, the magistrate ordered that the first accused person be remanded at the Oko Prison, while his son, who is a minor, be kept at the Children’s Remand Home, Ugbekun Quarters.
