Change is in the air

Change is in the air with the Hi-Velocity small duct system No one ever sets out to design a system which results in end user complaints. From a business perspective it could see your reputation go down the pan and it just doesn’t make commercial sense to keep using the same systems and designs over and over with the same results. Yet when it comes to mechanical services and the heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) industry it seems to be the acceptable norm that air conditioning in particular will result in draughts, uneven temperatures and thermal discomfort. Imagine a working environment so good it: • Will increase workplace productivity. • Will create a healthier working environment. • Will banish arguments over air conditioning, with draught-free, even temperatures from floor to ceiling and wall to wall. With air conditioning commonly cited as the biggest cause of complaint when it comes to thermal discomfort, it really is time to change the way we look at our indoor environment. While we can congratulate the traditional air conditioning system for becoming smaller, quieter or more energy efficient, the way it delivers conditioned air is not going to change. This is why small duct systems, such as the Hi-Velocity System, are posing a serious challenge to traditional HVAC issues. Draught-free and discreet The Hi-Velocity system’s unique air movement pattern is practically imperceptible to human skin. It fills the entire conditioned space at an equal rate (usually within 1 o C of the thermostat) regardless of the mode it is in. The air movement pattern not only banishes draughts and hot/cold spots but also has a big impact on your indoor environment: • Every cm 3 of space in the room is conditioned, meaning there is nowhere for stale/hot/cold air to be trapped. • It increases energy efficiency as it eradicates the need to over-compensate, or use additional heating /cooling sources such as under desk heaters. • As the air movement pattern naturally destratifies (harvesting warm air normally lost at ceiling level), the heat source can run for less time. • The Hi-Velocity system also dehumidifies as standard, which keeps occupants comfortable at higher temperatures, meaning the cooling source can run for less time. How does it work? The system is pretty unique in its operation, delivering air via discreet air outlets or linear grilles, rather than ugly and bulky diffusers or casettes. At first glance you will see similarities with the traditional ducted system, but some key differences too; an air handling unit conditions the air, which is then delivered via a pressurised ductwork plenum to flexible mini ducts, terminating in discreet outlets positioned in ‘out-oftraffic’ areas in walls, ceilings or floors. Hi-Velocity offers a 7-in-1, modular solution for air conditioning, heating, fresh air ventilation (from 0-100%), NASA specification air purification, de-humidification/ humidification and destratification, in any combination AND is compatible with all known sustainable energy sources, from air source heat pumps, to solar, to even high efficiency boilers. Hi-Velocity systems also offer: • Simple yet innovative design • Hassle free, low carbon installation • Interior flexibility • Easy maintenance • Responsiveness.
