Germany, 18th century ‘Ich bin ein Hamburger’: Music from Baroque Hamburg As one of the most vibrant cultural centres of the Baroque period, Hamburg was a hotbed of musical talent throughout the 17th and 18th centuries. From Handel’s first opera, Almira, to the prolific talents of Telemann, to the burgeoning of the emfindsamer Stil in the music of C.P.E. Bach, this concert explores the city’s rich and varied musical heritage. World Music Expect music-making originating from anywhere around the globe in this world music concert! Students will perform music in exotic styles, as soloists and ensembles such as klezmer and gamelan.
