DRAMA The Martin Harris Centre continues to offer the best, young, creative talent a ‘powerful voice in Manchester’. The John Thaw Studio Theatre is a valuable performance space where students make their own independent experiments in theatre – as performers, writers, directors and technicians. Many alumni have acknowledged what an important part these performances played in their creative and intellectual development during their time at university. Venue John Thaw Studio Theatre Times & Dates 7pm, Wednesday 14 February 2018 7pm, Thursday 15 February 2018 7pm, Friday 16 February 2018 Price £7 / £5 / £4 (per single event) University of Manchester Drama Society: Manchester In-Fringe Theatre Awards (MIFTAs) The MIFTAS are a series of 8 plays, whether original or published, that take place during February and March 2018, in theatres across Manchester, including the John Thaw Studio Theatre. This judged season is put together entirely by students, being the writers, directors, producers, actors and designers of all the shows. The opening production will be: Yellow Icing Writer: Rory Calland Director: Ollie Norton-Smith Assistant Director: Elena Brearly Producer: Virginia Saul Harper struggles to appreciate the world in her time; destined to be an explorer perhaps she was born too late and the earth is now shrunken and shrivelled. Around her is only decay, the world is beyond its prime yet people still absurdly cling to existence. Joined by Captain Robert Scott, Harper simply desires to catalogue the animals on her beach, but her family is looming above her.
