The target audience for this medical event is physicians, nurses, respira<strong>to</strong>ry therapists and<br />

other healthcare practitioners <strong>in</strong>terested <strong>in</strong> or currently provid<strong>in</strong>g diagnosis, therapy or<br />

Conference Description:<br />

New therapeutic developments and evidence-based <strong>treatment</strong>s for <strong>COPD</strong> change over time.<br />

Treatment controversies and misunderstand<strong>in</strong>gs often present as a result; accord<strong>in</strong>gly,<br />

strategies and <strong>treatment</strong> guidel<strong>in</strong>es require updates. The worsen<strong>in</strong>g burden of <strong>COPD</strong> calls for<br />

critical review and assessment of the different <strong>in</strong>terventional ef cacies aimed at case nd<strong>in</strong>g,<br />

diagnos<strong>in</strong>g <strong>COPD</strong>, controll<strong>in</strong>g <strong>COPD</strong> symp<strong>to</strong>ms, prevent<strong>in</strong>g exacerbations and ma<strong>in</strong>ta<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g the<br />

quality of life. Cont<strong>in</strong>u<strong>in</strong>g education of health professionals <strong>in</strong>volved <strong>in</strong> the management of<br />

<strong>COPD</strong> may ll these exist<strong>in</strong>g ef cacy practice gaps.<br />

Conference Purpose:<br />

This program will <strong>in</strong>itiate practice changes <strong>in</strong> the diagnosis, therapeutics, management of<br />

<strong>COPD</strong> <strong>patient</strong>s <strong>in</strong> acute <strong>to</strong> subacute environments so as <strong>to</strong> improve <strong>patient</strong> quality of life.<br />
