PRIMARY, SECONDARY, POST-16 & SEN OFFERS Victoria & Albert Museum Project Name Performance Design & Make-up About the Project The Victoria and Albert Museum (V&A) in London is the world's largest museum of art, design & performance, housing a permanent collection of over 2.3 million objects. It was founded in 1852 and named after Queen Victoria and Prince Albert. We offer a wide range of gallery tours, practical workshops, exhibition visits, events, screenings and projects for pupils aged from EYFS-KS5 and post-16. Our focus is on the collections and galleries of the V&A and, as the leading museum of art, design and performance, our main curriculum focus is on these three areas, though our primary offer is particularly rich in links to English, history and R.E. For this offer, we are providing details of our performance focussed design sessions: • Design for Performance Workshop (Set) • Design for Performance Workshop (Costume) • Stage Make-up Workshop At the start of the session, students are taken on a short tour of the Theatre and Performance Galleries to see some of the costumes and set model boxes in the national collection of performing arts and make-up displays of the show ‘Wicked’. They then work back in the studio and will either: • Use simple materials to create a model box or rough designs for a costume. Please specify at the time of booking if you would like to focus on set design or costume design • Be shown a full demo on one student of a make-up design. This can either focus on Make-up for Musicals, Basic Special FX, Make-up styles through History or Tips for Schools Productions If there is a specific text or performance you have in mind to focus on, do let us know that too when you book. We also offer a Perform Tour, a 1-hour theatre and performance gallery tour, which is free of charge, however this is not accompanied by a workshop. 56
