EXEMPLARY TEACHERS LTISD Secondary Teacher of the Year "A real education must be a tool set that gives students strategies to face a future we don't even know yet. A real education must provide opportunities for exploring curiosities in STEM and the arts, and the mysteries of what is unknown; for learning and appreciating the value of work and sacrifice; and growing self-discipline. A real education must help learners cultivate a growth mindset and instill a desire to become a lifelong learner. A real education must include learning how to be kind and brave. A real education must also teach us how to listen to and learn from another person's story and perspective by walking a mile their shoes." LTISD Elementary Teacher of the Year "It is important to teach my students that we each serve a purpose, we each have skills and talents, and that we should each value one another as unique individuals. This is always lesson number one in my class, and every new day students walk into my class with a clean slate, ready to learn, and hopefully, take another step towards their individual goals. Each one is treated with respect, and each one is taught and disciplined in a manner that meets their individual needs. My goal as their teacher is not to force them to learn, but to inspire them to want to learn."
