COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT WEEK WITH GCRA The Greenville County Redevelopment Authority and the Mauldin community gathered at Miller Place Court for Community Development Week. This week has been celebrated across the country since the start of the Community Development Block Grant in 1975. Speaking at the event were GCRA Board Vice Chair Charlotte Osmer, Mauldin Mayor Dennis Raines, and GCRA Interim Executive Director Douglas F. Dent. “Today we gather to celebrate a partnership between our national and local government which has benefited thousands of families and businesses in Greenville County and millions nationwide for over 40 years,” said Osmer in her speech. “Specifically, we are here to dedicate Miller Place, an 18 unit rental housing complex that will provide attractive, affordable housing for our teachers, first responders, service industry workers and families.” CHICORA ALLEY HOSTS RELAUNCHING PARTY The Chamber of Commerce and Mauldin’s Community Development department worked with Chicora Alley to bring to life a relaunching party and ribbon cutting for the local restaurant. Located across the road from the intersection of North Main Street and Sunset Drive, the restaurant began its rebranding campaign as Chicora Alley at Sunset, with hopes to bring a fresh look to a Mauldin mainstay. More than 60 guests enjoyed new dishes and drinks at the event, and speakers included Chamber President Pat Pomeroy, Mauldin Mayor Dennis Raines, and owner of the restaurant Bert Dixon.
