OPENING REMARKS Jimmy Hsia Vice Provost for International Programs and Strategy, CMU Professor of Mechanical Engineering and Biomedical Engineering, CMU Hsia received a B.S. from Tsinghua University, Beijing, China, and a PhD from MIT. His research interests include deformation and failure mechanisms of materials, mciro/nanomechanics of nanoscale materials, and cell mechanics. He is a Fellow of American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS), a Fellow of American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), and recipient of NSF Research Initiation Award, Max-Planck Society Scholarship, Japan Society for Promotion of Science Fellowship. Dave Mawhinney Associate Teaching Professor, CMU Executive Director of the Swartz Center for Entrepreneurship, CMU Dave brings a vast background in marketing, sales, product development and operations from co-founding four information technology entrepreneurial ventures. In addition to being Co- Director of the Carnegie Mellon Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship, Dave also serves as the Executive Director of the Donald H. Jones Center for Entrepreneurship, Managing Director of the Open Field Entrepreneurs Fund, and Director of the i6 Agile Innovation System. Prior to his recent positions, Dave was Co-Founder, Chairman, and CEO of mSpoke (acquired by Linkedin); General Partner for PNC Technology Investors; Co-Founder, Director, and President of Premier Health Exchange. 8

KEYNOTE SPEAKERS KEYNOTE SPEAKERS (by alphabetical order) Andrew Moore Dean, School of Computer Science, CMU Former Vice President, Google Andrew W. Moore. PhD, a distinguished computer scientist with expertise in machine learning and robotics, became dean of the Carnegie Mellon University School of Computer Science in August 2014. He had previously served as a professor of computer science and robotics before taking a leave of absence to become founding director of Google's Pittsburgh engineering office in 2006. Moore's research interests broadly encompass the field of "big data"-applying statistical methods and mathematical formulas to massive quantities of information, ranging from Web searches to astronomy to medical records, in order to identify patterns and extract meaning from that information. His past research has also included improving the ability of robots and other automated systems to sense the world around them and respond appropriately. Tuomas Sandholm Professor, Computer Science, CMU Founder and CEO, Optimized Markets Tuomas Sandholm is a Professor at Carnegie Mellon University in the Computer Science Department. He is the Founder and Director of the Electronic Marketplaces Laboratory. He has published over 450 papers. He has 27 years of experience building optimization-powered electronic marketplaces, and has fielded several of his systems. His team won the AAAI 2016 Annual Computer Poker Competition Heads-Up No-Limit Texas Hold’em competition in both categories (total banroll and elimination).
