Located at SASBADI Holding Berhad Kota Damansara, the initial meeting was organised with its main objective to strategize on how DCIS team can commercialize their teaching and learning aids using LEGO for students with learning disabilities. To support the initiative, at the department level, a MoA was also signed between the Department of Petroleum Engineering Universitas Islam Riau (PE-UIR) and UTP’s Department of Fundamental & Applied Sciences (DFAS). The MoA signing signifies the start of the collaboration between the two departments in several key areas: exchange of students and faculty members, joint research activities, seminar and academic meetings participation, exchange of academic materials and other information, and special short-term academic programmes. The student exchange programmes allows up to 2 final-year undergraduate students from UTP to undergo approved course of instruction extending over one semester or one academic year. Similarly, PE-UIR will send up to 2 students to spend their academic year at UTP. For the faculty exchange programmes, faculty members from the two departments may apply to spend an academic semester or a shorter period at the other department serving as visiting member of the teaching faculty or research staff to undertake assigned duties as a visiting faculty member. The MoU will come into effect on the date of the signing and shall remain in effect for a period of three years. FSIT NEWSLETTER | 7
