4 the advertizer New CEO

4 the advertizer New CEO at Ardgowan Linda McEnhill, who lives in Kilmacolm, has been named as the new Chief Executive Officer at Ardgowan Hospice. Linda has been involved in palliative care for 25 years, during which time she has worked in a range of settings as a practitioner, manager, director and lecturer, working both in Scotland and England. Keith McKellar, Ardgowan Hospice Chair, said, “We are delighted that Linda has agreed to become our new CEO and we are looking forward to continuing to develop Hospice care under her leadership.” Having previously been involved with Ardgowan Hospice, when she worked at the Prince and Princess of Wales Hospice, helping to set up the three hospice Butterfly Children and Young People Bereavement Service back in 2010 Linda says she is pleased to have the opportunity to work with the Ardgowan team again. She added, “I have happy memories of Ardgowan - always a warm, friendly welcome and I look forward to working with staff and volunteers to support those living in our community affected by life limiting illness.” During her career, Linda has held various social work and counselling roles, including Widening Access Manager for Hospice UK. It is from this background that her passion to improve care at the end of life for people with learning disabilities has been fuelled. In 1998, her desire to see equitable access for all people to high quality end of life care led her to establish the National Network for Palliative Care of People with Learning Disabilities, which aims to raise awareness of the palliative care needs of people with learning disabilities and to share and promote best practice. This work was recognized when she was awarded the first Hambro-Macmillan Associate Fellowship in 2003. An award was later created in her name to recognise organisations and individuals who have made a significant difference to the end of life care of people with learning disabilities. Born in Glasgow, Linda now lives in Kilmacolm with her husband of 37 years, Peter, and their three-year-old Dalmatian, Mungo. She has degrees in Theology, Social Work and Hospice Leadership and is a qualified Clinical Hypnotherapist. Community Dog Walk Sets Tongues and Tails Wagging Dog owners descended on Robertson Park in Renfrew at the weekend to show their support for Renfrewshire’s Team Up to Clean Up campaign and its aim to rid the area of dog fouling. More than 50 people brought along their pride and joy to take part in the event which saw a mass dog walk take place to promote responsible dog ownership. Local organisation, the Phoenix Flyers, put on a fantastic display of dog agility which saw pets fly through tunnels, up and down see-saws and over jumps as our four-legged friends showcased their talents. Those in attendance were also given the opportunity to sign up to Renfrewshire’s Responsible Dog Ownership pledge which outlines their commitment to looking after their pet and taking responsibility for everything that comes with being an owner. Councillor Cathy McEwan, Convener of Renfrewshire Council’s Infrastructure, Land and Environment Policy Board, said: “I was delighted to see such a fantastic turnout as people put their support behind our Team Up to Clean Up campaign and denounce their fellow dog owners who fail to pick up after their pets. As part of the dog fouling campaign, streets throughout Renfrewshire with an identified problem are also being targeted with luminous spray paint, street stencilling, informative posters and increased warden activity.
