Fortunately, I had an old comic book collecti<strong>on</strong> I’d been mean<strong>in</strong>g <str<strong>on</strong>g>to</str<strong>on</strong>g> sell o . Without<br />
any better idea of what <str<strong>on</strong>g>to</str<strong>on</strong>g> do (back then, I had no idea how <str<strong>on</strong>g>to</str<strong>on</strong>g> sell books <strong>on</strong> Amaz<strong>on</strong>), I<br />
turned <str<strong>on</strong>g>to</str<strong>on</strong>g> <strong>on</strong>e of the most popular peer-<str<strong>on</strong>g>to</str<strong>on</strong>g>-peer sales platform <strong>on</strong> the web:<br />
Ebay.<br />
Thus, I made some great aucti<strong>on</strong> pages and listed my comics. Then, I just sat and<br />
waited…<br />
… and waited…<br />
… and waited.<br />
A week passed and my aucti<strong>on</strong>s ended.<br />
Zero sales.<br />

When you sell a product <strong>on</strong> Ebay, it’s you AND your list<strong>in</strong>g that’s compet<strong>in</strong>g. And even<br />
if you’re the cheapest or best entry, you might not appear <strong>on</strong> the rst page of search<br />
results (not unless the shopper uses the lters, of course). And despite the fact that my<br />
comic books were priced aggressively, the list<strong>in</strong>gs whose sellers had been sell<strong>in</strong>g <strong>on</strong><br />
Ebay l<strong>on</strong>ger (sometimes for a decade or more) were given precedence.<br />
