<strong>The</strong> data also shows that <strong>the</strong> share of UK firms <strong>in</strong>troduc<strong>in</strong>g novel <strong>in</strong>novations <strong>–</strong> those<br />
that are new to <strong>the</strong> firms’ market <strong>–</strong> is below <strong>the</strong> EU average (Fig 12).<br />
<strong>The</strong>re is evidence that <strong>in</strong>novation by UK enterprises decl<strong>in</strong>ed between <strong>the</strong> two Community<br />
<strong>Innovation</strong> surveys 15 with lower <strong>in</strong>cidences of novel product <strong>in</strong>novation, product and<br />
process <strong>in</strong>novations and higher <strong>in</strong>cidences of unsuccessful <strong>in</strong>novations 16 (Fig 13).<br />
