Salone del Mobile surpassed all records this year with nearly half 

a million visitors converging on the Italian capital to engage, live 

and breathe design for 6 full days. Many stylistic approaches are 

exhibited at the Fair, Satellite venues and urban pop-ups across 

the city, and from this milieu style trends are predicted, hailed 

and derided. For anyone to digest it all in the time frame is virtually 

impossible, but we made a good effort! Here is an overview 

of what is trending right now and available from ownworld.

Arco loves making tables. To Arco, a table is 

more than its technical definition. A table is a place. A 

place for eating, reading, working, playing, reminiscing 

about our past and planning our future. Arco make 

tables for all of these moments. Continually looking to 

their surroundings for inspiration, Arco are passionate 

about sustainability, sourcing timber locally within 

kilometres of their factory in Winterswijk, The Netherlands. 

It then seems perfectly logical that Arco would choose to 

share an impression of the region they hail from with 

visitors to Salone this year. Drawing influence from 

the local forest, Arco celebrated the colours and textures 

of their surrounding landscape. Sheer ceiling to floor 

curtains, featuring a print of the majestic forest, framed 

the space while autumnal colours spilled on to the stand 

through the fabrics and finishes selected.

Trestle Table 

DESIGN JORRE VAN AST 

TRESTLE table is the latest design from Jorre van 

Ast who has reworked the functional look of the 

trestle to create a generously proportioned table 

that will complement any living area or workplace. 

As with other models from the company’s Local 

Wood range, the oak for the table top is sourced 

from the area around the Arco factory in Winterswijk, 

Holland, close to the border with Germany. 

The two-part table top is supported at each end 

by a three-legged aluminium trestle, the height of 

which can be adjusted from 710 to 780 mm, meaning 

that the table can be easily transported, set up 

and adapted to the height of the specific user.

For 58 years Arrmet has been devoted to 

perfecting its seating collections through experience, experimention 

and a continual passion for craftsmanship. 

At Arrmet, listening and responding to the needs and 

demands of the market are at the foundation of every relationship. 

Ideas become chairs. 

This year Arrmet showcased two new chair collections 

along side some of their best sellers. The simplicity of the 

stand along with the carefully selected fabrics and finishes, 

highlighted the products beautifully, echoing the 

quote , “ success is doing ordinary things extraordinarily 

well.”

Macka Armchair and Stool 

DESIGN NOTE DESIGN STUDIO 

Who hasn‘t when close to the sea, picked up a stone and 

thrown it in a way that it bounces on the surface of the 

water? In Sweden this game is called “kasta macka,“. The 

perfect “macka” is a stone that is thin with soft rounded 

edges and this became the inspiration for the MACKA 

collection. Arrmet’s aim was to create a chair that looked 

like it had been shaped by the ocean for thousands of 

years. 

With its softly rounded, pebble shaped back and armrests, 

the MACKA chair is ideal for hospitality environments 

thanks to its inviting shape and compact dimensions. 

The armrests are designed to comfortably embrace the 

body while the joining of the arms with the backrest is the 

key feature, creating a holistic expression that is light and 

elegant.

Doc Chair 

DESIGN BELINDA MAZZER 

DOC is a modern interpretation of a classic model, 

blending tradition and innovation. Beautifully 

designed and proportioned, this soft comfortable 

chair is unmistakably one of a kind. The outer backrest 

combination of timber and fabric creates a 

warm tactile enhancement to the design. 


Bensen continued their tradition of delivering 

exquisitely crafted furniture, releasing two new 

lounging solutions: the PRE Lounge chair and LOFT 

Lounge. Bensen’s philosophy balances design simplicity 

and honesty and this evolution was apparent with 

the introduction of the PRE lounge chair into the existing 

TURN lounging collection. Set against an elegant 

backdrop of neutral tones, the colour blocked TURN 

collection took centre stage at the show.

Pre Lounge Chair 

DESIGN NEILS BENDTSEN 

The PRE lounge chair is a new take on an old idea. Modelled 

on a traditional slipper chair, but with the TURN collection’s 

360-degree smooth swivel mechanism and under-cut profile. 

A perfect lounge chair for any space with its crisp minimalist 

line and charming presence.

Loft Lounge 

DESIGN NEILS BENDTSEN 

With a floating frame, and elegant legs, the LOFT 

sofa is a clean and tailored classic that invites you 

into its embrace. The simplicity of the integrated 

seat cushion makes this sofa is a great piece for 

both residential and contract applications. 


The Outdoor market is vast and Cane-line 

has a solution to match every need. Cane-line designers 

share deep roots in the Danish design tradition built 

on craftmanship, quality and a simple yet distinctive 

expression. Every design is created with the Scandinavian 

summer days and nights in mind, bringing you a 

vibrant outdoor living experience where the furniture 

complements the atmosphere. 

Popular rattan models of ottomans to lounges and dining 

chairs coupled with high tech fabric sofas for the outdoors 

featured heavily in this years exhibition.

Peacock Chair & Lounge 

DESIGN FOERSOM & HIORT-LORENZEN 

A visually beautiful complex woven wrapped back which hugs 

the body in total comfort. PEACOCK is available in a range 

of house coloured plastic wrapped weave with seat pads in 

resilient outdoor fabrics. Wood frames in natural Teak wood 

are oil finished for natural aging to suit users’ preference. Both 

temperature and UV-resistant, PEACOCK is deal for outdoor 

use in any climate. 


The Colos stand at Salone del Mobile 2018 

presented the full seating range boldly displayed in colour 

stories, along with two new releases: VILLA and 

SPLIT. 

Everyday scenes were replicated to show the sheer versatility 

of Colos products and how they can be integrated 

into a variety of applications.

Split Chair 

DESIGN FRANCESCO MEDA 

SPLIT is a two-piece chair. The separate 

shell and base frame are realised with similar 

materials, thus allowing customisable combinations 

of colour for the shell and base for 

outdoors. SPLIT GL, with wooden base, is a 

premium version that enhances the original 

SPLIT concept.

Villa Stacking Chair 

DESIGN JUN YASUMOTO 

A favourite pick from Colos this year, the VILLA 

chair is a wonderfully inviting outdoor chair or 

armchair with a pressed mesh metal seat shell 

ergonomically contoured for comfort. Stackable 

and suitable for high use contract or residential use, 

VILLA is a joy, light and fun and available in a broad 

range of colours for every scheme. 


Crassevig has epitomised the values of Italian 

design since 1969 and this year they strengthened 

their strong functional design legacy with a presentation 

of new tables, stools and chairs. 

Behind every collection is innovation and meticulous 

detailing which embodies the identity of the company. 

Their understated trademark style and its masterful 

ability to work with a wide range of materials was ever 

present at this years fair.

Beret Stool 

DESIGN SAMUEL WILKINSON 

Simple but elaborate, BERET embodies “less is more”. The 

pure and simplistic shape of the circle, skilfully moulded 

with 3D wood technology creates a stool of impressive 

stability and comfort. The seat is made of micro-perforated 

plywood; a state of the art material, that allows a 

variety of shapes at a reduced thickness for an increased 

level of elegance and style. The curvature of the seat is engineered 

to support the contours of the body in comfort 

on a confined footprint.

Plug Table 

DESIGN MARCELLO ZILIANI 

Flexibility and unbridled scope for customisation are the distinguishing 

features of the PLUG collection of tables. PLUG provides versatile modular 

solution to meet the many needs of the contract market offering 

a broad potential for use in workplace and catering environments. 

Highly durable materials enable heavy use applications and also for the 

outdoors. 

Featuring die-cast aluminium joints, designed to connect the legs and 

the tops. In larger versions the joint is integrated into a modular frame, 

ensuring solidity and strength. This solution allows for a wide variety of 

sizes and shapes, from the three-legged smaller round tables, to meeting 

tables in various materials, finishes, and thicknesses. PLUG tables 

are easy to lift with the added advantage of stackability for storage 

when not in use.

Pola Round Armchair 

DESIGN LC STUDIO 

An addition to the POLA ROUND collection is the finalisation 

of the fully upholstered version. The underlying ergonomically 

moulded shell renders this padded armchair 

immensely comfortable. Available on all base variants 

in wood, steel, or cast aluminium. POLA ROUND is both 

CATAS and BIFMA certified for heavy contract use.

Mixis Stacking Chair 

DESIGN MARIO FERRARINI 

MIXIS on 4-leg frame is released as a stacking 

model. Patiently awaited, this addition extends 

the conferencing and training capabilities of 

this desirable design and joins the MIXIS sled 

base stacking version. MIXIS is both CATAS and 

BIFMA certified for heavy contract use. 


Desalto’s stand at the Salone del Mobile, envisioned 

and designed by Alessandra Dalloli, crystallizes 

the emotional, passionate design philosophy that the 

company embraces, providing a moment of contemplation 

and a privileged glimpse of what is happening in 

the realm of authentic high end design.

Ply Stacking Chair 

DESIGN POCCI + DONDOLI 

PLY, a chair and a new design classic. PLY uses ordinary 

materials such as polypropylene and tapering 

triangular section steel legs, made unique through 

high-quality details and finishes.

DESIGN ARIK LEVY 

QUARTZ comprises of a collection of mirrors in 4 

different shapes based upon the natural formation 

of quartz. Available in mirror or smoked mirror, 

all with a 30mm bevelled edge all round, and with 

concealed support panel in Forex board.

Clay Table 

DESIGN MARC KRUSIN 

More than a table, CLAY is a sculpture, a perfect 

union of beauty and harmonious proportions. The 

meeting of two volumes achieves a perfect balance 

of one over the other. 

CLAY is a perfect example of clean, simplistic 

design. Available in a selection of sizes, with a choice 

of a round or elliptical base and top, CLAY is a beautifully 

engineered table that will ensure a lasting 

impression in any space.

Iblea Table 

DESIGN GORDON GUILLAUMIER 

The IBLEA table combines a dynamic design with 

technological elegance. The soft elliptical curvature 

of the new stone top offering with radiused 

corners blends harmoniously with the geometric 

stability of its base.

Paper Chair 

DESIGN CRISTIAN GORI 

Resembling delicate origami, the PAPER chair is 

constructed with overlapping polypropylene reinforced 

with fibre glass. Available in three versions: 

central upright with 4-star base in laser-cut steel, 

4-legs in elliptical shaped steel or solid wood.

Lake Table System 

DESIGN GORDON GUILLAUMIER 

The LAKE table is supported on Ø30mm tubular 

steel legs, beautifully curved to replicate the curvature 

of the shaped top. Finished in solid ceramic 

tile in various house finishes, LAKE is also a modular 

table system which can be adapted to suit corporate 

boardroom or conferencing configurations as 

required. The LAKE leg system can be configured 

to support an infinite number of top shapes and 

dimensions in any layout. 


Starting in 1878, Fornasarig has one of the 

longest histories in the world of seating manufacturing 

spanning 4 generations as a family owned and operated 

company. 

Fornasrig presented a strong commercial workplace 

offering at this years fair releasing the super-stacking 

Link X60 chair and new additions to the Wolfgang 

Collection. Functional and flexible, these new seating 

collections are designed with the contemporary workplace 

in mind.

LinkX60 Stacking Chair 

DESIGN LUCA FORNASARIG 

LINK X60 gains its name from its incredible ability to stack 60 

units high on a trolley. A slim profile and elegant frame, LINK 

X60 appears visually light while being exceptionally strong. 

LINK X60 is strength tested and CATAS certified for heavy 

duty contract applications. 

An ergonomic moulded polypropylene seat and back rest 

with added padded upholstery options to provide comfort 

when sitting for extended periods makes LINK X60 the ideal 

conferencing, educational, auditorium training chair. LINK 

X60 stacks 60 high on a trolley and is supported by a 10 Year 

Structural warranty.

Wolfgang Metal Stool & Chair 

DESIGN LUCA NICHETTO 

Five years after the launch of initial WOLFGANG range, the 

collection has been pushed in bold new direction. This slender 

metal version retains the original models architectural curvature, 

while decreasing its weight to allow easy stackability, portability 

and storage. 

The brief for the design of the new additions to the WOLFGANG 

collection included these key points: lighter, stackable, durable, 

configurable and comfortle. Fornasarig were challenged to find 

the best possible way to engineer a solution which would meet 

these requirements. The results were something entirely new; a 

chair that looks so light yet is so strong. 

A versatile and easy adaptable chair suitable for a range of environments, 

WOLFGANG is beautiful from every angle. The ample 

angled back rest provides relief when sitting for extended periods 

of time making it the ideal meeting, training or dining chair. 


Gubi welcomed visitors into their spectacular 

exhibition set within the historical backdrop of 

Palazzo Serbelloni. This sumptuous Milanese palace 

has witnessed more than two centuries of Italian and 

international history, which is beautifully retained 

within the ancient splendour and neoclassical decoration 

of the space. 

New-releases were showcased alongside existing pieces 

from their collection in an astonishing 1200 m2 universe 

of home, contract and hospitality settings.

Moon Table 

DESIGN SPACE COPENHAGEN 

The MOON collection is a series of organic, curved tables spanning 

from lower round occasional tables to generous dining and 

expansive meeting tables making it suitable for both residential 

and workplace applications. 

The interplay between the full or half moon shaped base, the beautiful 

marble or veneer tops and bevelled edge detailing, creates 

a simple yet strong identity for the design. The result is an elegant 

table series with clear references to traditional Danish carpentry.

C-Chair 

DESIGN MARCEL GASCOIN 

Cleverly designed with great attention to detail, the 

C-CHAIR possesses an elegant shape yet sturdy 

construction rooted in a simple, minimal and strong 

design language. Characterised by voluminous and 

vigorous legs juxtaposed by an inviting seat in lighter 

material like cane, straw or fabric, the quality of the 

C-CHAIR reveals itself through modern lines, sobriety 

and high-quality wooden workmanship.

Gravity Lamp 

DESIGN SPACE COPENHAGEN 

The new GRAVITY Collection, consisting of a table 

lamp and a floor lamp, is aesthetically contrasting 

strength and fragility. Taking its name from the 

lamp’s distinctive balance between the anchoring 

of the heavy, cylindrical base and the lightweight, 

airy shade, it beautifully merges into a sculptural 

whole. 

Blending understated elegance, clean functionality 

and effortless in its own succinct and simple way, 

the GRAVITY Lamp gives an ambient and subtle 

light display and creates different moods and 

expressions depending on the choice of size and 

combination of materiality.

Pacha Lounge 

DESIGN 

PIERRE PAULIN 

Legendary French designer Pierre Paulin originally designed the PACHA 

Chair in 1975. Paulin designed the chair in harmony with the changing 

design style of its period, replacing the austerity of post-war design with a 

new, vigorous approach. 

Pierre Paulin gave a real elegance to the rounded forms of the PACHA 

Chair by finding the perfect proportions, raising it lightly on its base and 

tracing in the foam and upholstery with stitching lines inclined inwards. 

Through pieces like the PACHA Chair, Pierre Paulin pioneered low-level 

living; a modern way of living and sitting on the floor, by getting rid of 

chair legs. 

With comfort as the constant starting-point in his designs, the curvaceous, 

whimsical and organic shapes of the PACHA Chair is conceived 

to serve the body, providing both comfort and cosiness. Looking as 

contemporary today as when it first was designed, the PACHA Chair is 

an honest, functional piece that brings life and character to any interior 

setting.

Coco Chair & Lounge Chair 

DESIGN OEO STUDIO 

The COCO chair references the industrial simplicity, 

fashion and the Bauhaus, drawing inspiration from 

a desire to create a simple yet elegant chair with a 

minimal use of materials and tools without compromising 

the design and character. The result is a highly 

comfortable chair with a post-industrial look, balanced 

by the elegant silhouette where the soft curves render 

a feminine and playful touch. 

COCO has its own unique personality and friendly 

appearance that makes it blend naturally into various 

settings from pared-down ambiances to grand and 

refined universes. The high level of comfort is, among 

other features, expressed in the backrests curvy shape, 

that embraces and relieves the back of the one sitting 

in the chair. 

The design also allows the chair to be both playful and 

loud to more sophisticated and elegant, which gives 

the chair an almost human character, makes it highly 

recognisable, enhances its uniqueness and makes it 

easy to implement in both residential and hospitality 

environments.

Bat Lounge Chair 

DESIGN GAMFRATESI 

Balancing between the traditional and surprising, 

the BAT lounge chair is created with a Scandinavian 

approach to crafts, simplicity and functionalism 

while also carrying a strong embedded story 

and associations expressed in a minimalist idiom. 

The wide range of upholstery options and 

different bases allows the BAT lounge chair to 

fit perfectly into a variety of public and private 

applications. 


Inclass is a modern powerhouse of design 

innovation which has been growing its strong contract 

presence since its formation in the late 1990’s. Bringing 

together design leaders and producing a formidable 

line-up of good design is clearly its forte and the 2018 

Milan exhibition did not disappoint. 

Showcasing a whole new collection of modular tables 

and extensions to its already vastly successful seating 

ranges were spot-on queue for today’s discerning design 

hunter.

Varya 

DESIGN SIMON PENGELLY 

VARYA comprises an extensive range of chairs, 

armchairs, stools and benches. The seat shell is available 

in moulded thermoplastic in twelve colours 

or upholstered in three variants. The collection is 

generated by combining comfortable seats and 

different metal or wooden bases. 

The broad variety of base variants, together with 

the extensive range of finishes, allows for endless 

customisation possibilities without altering the 

unique character and timeless appeal of these original 

chairs. Designed for inhabiting diverse settings, 

VARYA is perfect for private residences through to 

contemporary workspaces and heavy contract.

Essens Table 

DESIGN JONATHAN PRESTWICH 

ESSENS table combines beauty, design and harmonious 

proportions. The meeting point between 

two essential volumes in equilibrium generates a 

table with a sculptural outline that fits perfectly in 

all kinds of indoor and outdoor spaces. 

The ESSENS programme of tables comprises 

four types of 100% recyclable polyurethane base 

supports for composing tables in an endless variety 

of formats. Power and data reticulation is available 

through the open base uprights which also accommodate 

power outlets under the top or at selected 

intervals across the table surface as required

Soave Lounging Collection 

DESIGN SEBASTIAN HERKNER 

SOAVE is a range of armchairs and sofas available in numerous configurations 

all sharing a common design trait of limited depth, making them the 

ideal solution for public lobbies and reception areas. The repeated use of an 

elliptical shape is a distinguishing feature of this collection. Layered rounded 

forms create a base and a seat with a discrete curved enveloping backrest. 

Understated metal legs emphasise the overall lightness of the SOAVE collection. 

The matching coffee table, which features the same soft form, looks 

like it is simply floating on the frame. Complemented by the optional support 

table, SOAVE is perfect for all uses in the contract market.

Waves Ottoman Collection 

DESIGN CONSTANCE GUISSET 

Eye-catching, modular and versatile, WAVES is 

a collection of poufs inspired by the sea and the 

soft, gentle ripples running along the surface of 

the water. The creative vision of French designer, 

Constance Guisset, who is renowned for her ability 

to conceive products with bold shapes and fun 

colours that are capable of adding a sense of verve 

and harmony to all public and private settings. 

Taking inspiration from the paintings of the American 

artist Georgia O’Keeffe, WAVES calls to mind 

natural landscapes with an endless array of natural 

forms, gentle lines and rich colours. WAVES poufs 

are available individually, in a range of different 

shapes and sizes or in a selection of modular compositions. 

They can be easily joined together with a 

magnetic connection hidden inside the structure 

of each pouf. 


Metalmobil are a manufacturer focused 

wholeheartedly on the commercial contract market, 

their designs keep evolving positively in keeping with 

their aim to provide timeless contract solutions.

Hull Chair 

DESIGN HARRI KOSKINEN 

HULL was exhibited as a prototype but given the 

acclaim it received will definitely be in production 

before the end of 2018. The chunky metal frame 

constructed in 30mm dia tubular steel give the 

chair a 70’s retro aesthetic at a glance but stop 

there. This collection has a personality all of its own 

making. In development will be a chair, armchair, 

and stool models. We can’t wait! 

Available: From October 2018

Systemtronic aim to produce products and 

accessories which encourage communication and cooperation 

amongst their customers. Products which add 

life and aesthetic value to any environment.

Green Cloud Planters 

DESIGN MERMELADA ESTUDIO 

The design of these plant pots evokes Roman lamps 

emitting vegetation, not flames. Manufactured in 

aluminium and steel, GREEN CLOUD is available as a 

free standing or suspended planter. 


Tekhne are inspired by the unusual and not 

deterred by complexity. In the last few years Tekhne has 

released some of the most interesting designer products 

by far, as complex as they are aspirational. This year 

saw a culmination of existing ranges extended to include 

new models and use.

Caura Armchair 

DESIGN VICENT CLAUSELL 

CAURA is a generous dining armchair or compact 

lounge armchair depending upon your need. Cosy 

and relaxing, CAURA is emphasised by its soft curved 

lines and upholstery. Elevated on tapered wood 

legs finished in stain or lacquer colours.

Dada Lounge Chair 

DESIGN LUCA DE BONA DARIO DE MEO 

The junction of two interconnecting curves generates 

the welcoming shape of the DADA lounge 

armchair. Fully padded and upholstered with 

decorative studs on the exterior join, this is a chair 

to covert. Available with matching foot stool.

Frantz Chair & Lounge 

DESIGN PRODUCKS DESIGN STUDIO 

FRANTZ collection is complete with the final addition 

of the FRANTZ lounge armchair and barstool. 

Styled to mirror their dining cousins with wrapped 

woven rattan or fibre mesh backs. The lounge has a 

generously padded seat cushion while the stool is 

available with either wood seat or seat pad upholstery. 

Frames in natural Beech or stained to Black. 


Torre began in 1961 with the design and 

production of strong functional school furniture for the 

local Italian market. But since the late 90’s, Torre have 

diversified with a range of lounge collections utilizing 

the same requirement for strength and longevity for 

heavy use applications. 

This year saw their range expanded to include models 

suited to workplace and commercial hospitality, exhibited 

in rich fabrics, crafted wood options, and sophisticated 

detailing.

DESIGN CARLESI & TONELLI 

The ISABEL family welcomes a new addition with 

the introduction of the ISABEL 05 low lounge version. 

With a wider seat ISABEL 05 is ideal for public
