Charles Sousa Launches
Re-Election Campaign
Mississauga : With a provincial election set for
June 7th, hundreds of community members and volunteers
were at 425 Lakeshore Road East today to help
launch Charles Sousa's Re-Election campaign.
Sousa has represented the Mississauga Lakeshore
Riding since 2007 and has served as Minister
of Finance, Minister of Citizenship and Immigration,
Minister Responsible for the 2015 Pan & ParaPan
American Games, Minister of Labour and Chair of
Treasury Board and Management Board of Cabinet.
Sousa introduced the 2018 Ontario Budget on
March 28, which outlined a bold plan for care and opportunity
that focuses on investments in health care,
home care, education and infrastructure.
“I'm proud of what we've accomplished together”
Sousa said to supporters and community members.
“Ontario’s economy is getting stronger, businesses
are creating record numbers of jobs and unemployment
is at the lowest rate in almost two decades. Our
budget is balanced. We have a $600-million surplus.
Now, we need to focus on making strategic investments
to make sure everyone has the opportunity to
get ahead, to create a bright future for Mississauga
Lakeshore”
Sousa is running on these key priorities:
• More funding for local hospitals to lower wait times
and improve care
• Waterfront redevelopment and revitalization
• Free prescriptions for children, youth and seniors
• New seniors grant and increased supports for home
care
• Free pre-school for kids aged two-and-a-half to kindergarten
• Free tuition for low- and middle-income students
• Faster and more affordable public transportation, including
more GO service
Hazel McCallion, former mayor of Mississauga
who delivers positive results for Mississauga and
the province. Charles is a compassionate community
advocate who has fought hard to support
our schools, expand our hospitals, protect our
parks and enhance public transit. His leadership
has been instrumental to the revitalization of our
waterfront and neighbourhoods. There's no doubt
that Charles' unrivaled experience in both the
public and private sector enables him to get the job
done. He is a great champion for our community
and for all Ontarians.”
