NATIONAL SMILE POWER DAY
June 15 th is the day we observe National Smile Power Day. This is a day
for everyone to share the power of the smile.
From the good morning greeting and the first “How may I help you?”
present yourself with a smile. No matter where you are employed, job
seeking, retired or looking for new horizons, starting the day with a
smile is certainly more empowering than a pout or grump. Starting with
a smile first is easier than trying to get there later in the day.
When you smile at someone, you are telling them that they are valued
and worth the smile that you just gave them. Smiles are moral boosters
and confidence builders.
Research has proven that smiling really does increase attractiveness
and likability between humans. Smiling creates a greater trust and increased
interpersonal cooperation. Smiling at someone can help them
to relax and relieve their stress while at the same time, it will make you
feel right. Smiling (even if you do not feel like it) will lift your mood and
can make you a happier person.
HOW TO OBSERVE
Challenge yourself to smile more often today. Use a smile to disarm
a tense situation or simply smile during your daily tasks.
Use #SmilePowerDay on social media.
IS YOUR SPRINKLER SYSTEM RUNNING
AT OPTIMUM PERFORMANCE?
Consider having a licensed irrigation contractor come to your home and
conduct an irrigation evaluation. The WISE Guy program, sponsored by
North Fort Bend Water Authority and participating Municipal Utility Districts
(MUD), allows you to have a licensed professional evaluate your irrigation
system; and then provide an online report of the findings with any recommended
repairs - at No Cost or Obligation to you. As a matter of fact, once
the evaluation is complete, North Fort Bend Water Authority will mail you a
$15 check for participating. To learn more or to sign up for a Free Sprinkler
System Evaluation, visit us at: www.NFBWA.com/wiseguys. You will also
find a list of MUD’s participating in the program.
COMMUNITY HEROES
VOLUNTEER TO BE AN EVERYDAY HERO
Volunteer firefighting is one of the most rewarding experiences you’ll
ever have. Community VFD offers free fire training and volunteering is a
great way to make a difference personally while having a positive impact
in your community. Volunteers can fight fires, drive apparatuses, extract
patients from vehicles at accident scenes, etc.
Community VFD also provides emergency medical services (EMS) and
provides opportunities for individuals with a Texas EMS certification
to serve their community.
