The end of the
school year
has arrived!
As we reflect back on the school year, we
celebrate the growth of our students at all
levels. Our Early Childhood students have
gained the confidence that comes with
independence and pride for their school life.
Our Elementary students have studied
Guatemalan culture and history and the
American Revolutionary War; learning about
peoples, conflict, resolution and progress. Our
Middle Schoolers started the year anxious and
curious but end with a determined voice about
friendships, volcanoes and community
service.
And finally, our High School students have
welcomed June with a roar and are tackling
exams and preparing the requirements for the
rigor of the upper classmen course of study.

OF 2018. WE ARE PROUD OF THESE
YOUNG ADULTS AND WE SHARE IN
THEIR FAMILIES´ EXCITEMENT AS THEY
RUN INTO THE WORLD AND MAKE
THEIR MEANINGFUL MARKS ONTO IT.
As we close the school year, we certainly have
tons to celebrate, but we also feel the
incredible responsibility to make sure that
CAG is poised strongly for the new school year
ahead. While our students and teachers enjoy
summer travel, rest and adventure, our
campus will undergo exciting new
improvements. When we open our doors in
August, CAG´s foundations will continue to be
stronger than ever, while offering new places
and updated environments for CAG kids of all
ages to explore and discover learning.
As you prepare to leave for the summer, join
me in applauding the faculty throughout the
school who have nurtured and cared for our
students and who inspire hornets of all ages to
be their best!

Thumbs Up for DI!
The week of May 21st, CAG Destination
Imagination Teams had an incredible trip to
Global Finals 2018! HS Team placed 10th
and team Aguacates placed 13th globally.
Way to go DI coaches, teams, parents and
supporters for all their hard work.

IMG Clinics
SOCCER CLINICS FOR CAG COACHES AND ATHLETES

Once a year, IMG Academy will be offering CAG coaches and athletes ages 8-18 speciality sport clinics of our
choice as part our new partnership. For this school year, the Athletic Director with the support of the Booster
Club chose soccer. The clinics are designed and runned by IMG and their coaching staff. IMG Academy has over
35 years of elite training experience, with a methodology that addresses all technical and tactical aspects of
the game to facilitate total athletic development. They have helped shape some of the best soccer players in
the United States for more than 20 years, and was home to U16 and U17 men’s national teams.
We had the pleasure of having three amazing IMG soccer coaches come
work with us. Rusty Scarborough, Director of the Soccer Program at IMG.
Miguel Rodrigues, Director of Soccer Summer Camps and Alexander Chater,
U19 National Elite Coach.
It was a three day clinic for all our coaching staff and a two day clinic for our soccer
players. On the field, athletes got cutting-edge training in performance elements to
improve strength, agility and endurance. Off the field, they worked on confidence, team work,
nutrition and overall health. They shared information with athletes and coaches of what the
scholarship and college playing process is like and what it takes to get in, as well as the
importance of good academic planning and development. Clinics included hydration and food.
Both coaches and athletes enjoyed healthy and delicious meals and snacks. All participants
received a diploma and gift at the awards ceremony. IMG gifted the overall MVP winner with a
one week summer camp certificate.
COMING SOON……
Booster Club is already planning the next school year’s clinic, all teams
will have the opportunity to particpate. Don’t miss it.. GO HORNETS!!!

FATIMA
ALLUMNI | NEWS
We want to congratulate Fatima Rubio (Class of 2002) on her extraordinary achievement.
She received the Harvey Russell Award , the Chairman's Award is the highest honor at
PepsiCo. It recognizes those individuals and teams who have distinguished themselves as
truly extraordinary serving as an inspiration for the rest of the company. Her program for
which she won this award is called “Orgulloso de ser Agricultor” of the PepsiCo Guatemala
Foundation.
This initiative impacts more than 2000 people that cultivate potatoes in Quetzaltenango by
integrating them in a program that helps them with sustainability, production,
environmental protection, basic nutrition, water conservation among other things. Thank
you, Fatima, for being a HORNET that we are really proud of.
