Welcome to the seminar on eco-tourism in protected areas. This year is the 10 th anniversary of<br />

Fulufjället as a National Park. With this seminar we want to inspire and encourage tourism in<br />

protected areas. How can we develop eco-tourism in the county? Join us to participate in the<br />

13:15 Local development opportunities. Karin Hellström, Älvdalens municipality, Linnea Tarr and<br />

Karin Blaauboer from northern Dalarna Tourist Board talks about local development opportunities<br />

in eco-tourism and how we could achieve them. (in Swedish)<br />

13:45 Eco-tourism in protected areas. Per Jiborn from the Ecotourism Society, and Nature's Best is<br />

working on sustainable tourism in protected areas. Talking about Ecotourism Society work and<br />

discussion how packaging, management and information can be developed. (in Swedish)<br />

14:40 The importance of branding, destination management and social media in promotion Europe’s<br />

wilderness as non-traditional tourist destination. Zoltan Kun, Executive Director PAN Parks. PAN<br />

Parks is an organisation working for protection, greater understanding and appreciation of Europe’s<br />

wilderness areas. (in English)<br />

15:10 The next generation of nature guides. Marit Norin and Christer Persson Älvdalens Education<br />

Center is working to train future entrepreneurs in nature tourism, and creates an understanding of<br />

how nature in a sustainable way can be used as a resource. (in Swedish)<br />

15:55 Ecotourism in Soomaa National Park in Estonia. Aivar Ruukel working as an entrepreneur in the<br />

region will share his experiences as a nature guide for many years. (in English)<br />

Areas. Lasse Lovén from Europarc Sustainable Tourism Working Group will talk about their work<br />

with the Europarc Sustainable Tourism Charter. (in English)<br />

17:05 Business Fair: Experience Company from Dalarna and the mountain region of Norway gives a<br />

taste of the experiences tourists are offered around Fulufjället.<br />

08:00 Common rights. Ingemar Ahlström, one of the nation's leading experts in the field. He has worked<br />

with right of common property issues since the 1970s, both as an employee of the Environmental<br />

Protection Agency, and then as a consultant. He has given numerous courses and lectures, and<br />

written books and articles on the subject. (in Swedish)<br />

09:10 Visit Surveys. Peter Fredman from Etour presents different ways to measure the visitors in the<br />

wild, what use we have made of the information and the need for knowledge of nature tourists in<br />

10:05 Environmental Protection Agency's work on sustainable tourism. Ulrika Karlsson and Ingvar<br />

Jundén talks about conditions and tools to operate in protected areas and natural and cultural<br />

10:40 Destination Røros. Hilde Bergbakken is the development manager for Destination Røros who<br />

through their work in a sustainable destination development won several prestigious awards. (in<br />

11:15 Natural and cultural tourism in Fulufjällets surrounding areas. Stein Egil Storbaek and Hans<br />

Rustad from Fulufjällsringens Economic Association talks about their work to create opportunities<br />

for sustainable development. (in Swedish)<br />

13:00 Departure to Fulufjället National Park with a visit to Fulufjället Visitor Centre and the Swedish<br />

highest waterfall, Njupeskär, there Visitor Centre director Eduardo Zúñiga guides us. The hike is<br />

about 4 km. (Good hiking shoes are recommended). Coffee will be served at the Visitor Centre.<br />

Carpooling back to the hotel for those staying one night longer.<br />
