2010 Annual Report
Save Better. Borrow Smarter. Learn a Lot!

The Credit Union Dierence
Q & A with President & CEO, Douglas A. Fecher
Q: What was Wright-Patt Credit Union’s most significant accomplishment in 2010?
A: We ended the year with a payout of over $4 million in excess profits to members. This is the credit union’s 3rd
consecutive end-of-year Special Patronage Dividend, which now totals over $10 million. We take great pride in this
figure because we never budget for the dividend. Special Patronage Dividends are earned by the membership’s
continued use of the cooperative. There are two factors that influence whether or not an end-of-year Special
Patronage Dividend will be paid: 1) the membership’s use of our products and services and 2) the credit union’s
operating efficiencies. Even in the wake of increasing costs due to regulations, we had another successful year and
we were able to give back.
Q: What types of challenges lie ahead for Wright-Patt Credit Union in 2011?
A: Unfortunately, the reality is the cost of banking is going up due to the increasing costs of regulatory compliance.
As a result of the new banking regulations passed last summer by Congress, we are now facing increased threats to
revenue. One change, in particular, may reduce amounts paid by merchants to cover their fair share of plastic card
networks. As we face this challenge, our goal is to continue to keep expenses low and ensure that the membership
receives the outstanding service they have come to expect from their credit union. We will continue to make
decisions based on the best interest of our members and our Main Street values.
Q: What is in store for Wright-Patt Credit Union in 2011?
A: Saving members more money – millions more! We are going to continue placing the needs of people –
members and employees alike – before profits. Many financial institutions are raising rates and imposing stricter
and much higher fees in an attempt to offset income losses due to regulatory expenses. In 2011, we plan on
saving our members $10 million in interest on their loans. WPCU recognizes that a credit union is operated for the
benefit of members and not Wall Street. Our goal is to create greater value for our members by helping them save
their hard earned money, by offering some of the best loan rates in the area and by not imposing excessive and
unrealistic fees. This approach will further increase business and generate new revenue to offset regulatory costs.
Q: How does Wright-Patt Credit Union help area businesses in the Miami Valley grow?
A: There are two ways that WPCU helps businesses grow: by educating their employees on their personal finances
and by offering valuable products and services to the business.
We provide free financial education programs, such as Budgeting, Investments, and Steps to Buying a Home,
through employers so employees can realize their financial dreams. As a result, financially successful employees
are more productive at work, miss less work, plus it saves the human resources department’s time in dealing with
employee related financial issues.
We also offer businesses a financial advantage by providing competitive business building tools, such as checking,
savings and loans – including our great low rate micro loans for small businesses. And, because we are a local
financial institution, just like most of the businesses in the Miami Valley, we make our loan decisions right here.

Stable, Solid, Sound, and Growing
Wright-Patt Credit Union had another successful year in 2010. We welcomed 27,326 new members to the credit
union, funded more than $616.9 million in new loans, and assets were up by $248.4 million.
Even better, your credit union was able to pay over $4 million in excess earnings back to the membership in a
Special Patronage Dividend! Your credit union continues to be one of the safest and most sound financial institutions
in the Miami Valley. As more members joined the cooperative, we celebrated our 200,000th member milestone and
closed the year with over 202,000 members.
This is a great time to reflect on the story of how Wright-Patt Credit Union came to be in 1932. It was the early ‘30s
and times were hard for everyone, including government workers at Wright Field in Dayton, Ohio – the future Wright-
Patterson Air Force Base. Back then, the government paid its workers in cash every two weeks. If you didn’t work, you
didn’t get paid.
One particular worker fell ill and went without pay for several weeks.
His family was hurting. Co-workers decided to chip in twenty-five
cents each to help his suffering family. Recognizing a good idea, these
same workers later committed a quarter each payday to create
a fund for fellow workers who might also one day need help. The
money was kept in the nurse’s office and was called “The Sunshine
Fund.” It was this box of money that evolved to become today’s
Wright-Patt Credit Union.
Our credit union initially had only a handful of members – some say as
few as eleven. We’re up to over 200,000 now, yet our mission remains
the same as in those first days: Wright-Patt Credit Union exists to help
members through life. That’s the beauty of our credit union system.
We are a unique group, banded together to provide affordable
financial services on a not-for-profit basis so that each of us might
have access to financial help when we need it.
But the “why” of what we do is the same now as it was in 1932:
Wright-Patt Credit Union is a service organization dedicated to the
principles of people helping people. No excess profits, no stockholders
and no Wall Street. Just folks on Main Street helping each other make
ends meet.
As always, thank you for being a member. We look forward
to continuing our service to you in the coming year.
Testimonials
Wright-Patt Credit Union
It’s no secret that at Wright-Patt Credit Union we are crazy about all of our members. We
believe they tell the story of how we help people through life best. The following are just a
few testimonials and facts that share ways how we have helped our members save better,
borrow smarter and learn a lot.
Kara G. - Member since 1996
“I’ve been with Wright-Patt through different stages of my life and
there’s always been a product for me – auto loans, student loans, my
credit card and money market. There is a difference in how banks and
credit unions treat people. I love the credit union!”
Kara, along with her fellow members, chose WPCU to save money
on their loans in 2010. Members took advantage of WPCU’s low loan
rates by bringing $616.9 million in new loans to their credit union.
Jim & Barb F. - Members since 2008
“Last year’s dividend made us want to start doing more with Wright-
Patt and it paid off. We’re moving everything to WPCU. Why keep
your money somewhere else and not get anything in return?”
Jim and Barb are just two of the members who were able to keep
more of their hard earned money by choosing WPCU. According
to the Credit Union National Association Benefits of Membership
Study, WPCU provided an estimated $22,670,036 in direct
benefits to our members over a recent 12-month time period.
High-use member households received $1,405 in direct financial
benefits during this time period.
Rashella L. - Member since 2001
“I believe Wright-Patt Credit Union is crazy about their members because
they care. They truly love their members and want to see them succeed.”
In 2011, WPCU plans to help our members save more than $10 million
in interest on their loans – just another example of how WPCU is crazy
about our members.

Dana & Luchawna G. - Members since 1987
“We travel a lot, so the ability to use so many surcharge-free ATMs with our
Wright-Patt debit card helps save a lot of money! It’s a breath of fresh air
compared to the checking account fees and ATM charges we had to pay
at the bank we were with.”
In addition to many ATM locations throughout the Miami Valley
and Southwest Ohio, WPCU has partnered with other credit
unions and ATM providers, giving members access to more
than 40,000 surcharge-free ATMs worldwide, including the
addition of the Allpoint and STARsf networks in 2010.
Tonia Boggs - Savings Race 2nd Edition Winner
“I strongly encourage all Wright-Patt members to apply for the Savings Race.
Thanks to the Savings Race, our dreams of becoming debt free are almost
a reality and we’re able to make the move to the bigger house we’ve
dreamed about. The Savings Race has been a complete life-altering
experience for our family.”
WPCU’s Savings Race 1st & 2nd Editions helped our ten
participating families improve their collective net worth by
$252,737 – more than a quarter of a million dollars – in just
eight short months! This amazing accomplishment is in
addition to the thousands of other members and residents of
the Miami Valley who improved their own finances by following
our families on WDTN-TV, WHIO Radio, and participating in Dave
Ramsey’s Financial Peace University, and/or our Financial Pit Stops
and Mini Races.
Sarah S. - Member since 2008
“I love the layout and colors of the new website. It makes the site much warmer
and friendly, and not so business-like. My husband and I really like the financial
calculators and educational resources. We use the calculators to help determine
the best way to pay off our credit cards as soon as possible.”
Sarah is one of more than nearly 70,000 users who took advantage of the
financial calculators on WPCU’s website to help make better financial decisions.

Testimonials
Wright-Patt Credit Union
William M. - Member since 1985
“My auto loan refinance experience at Wright-Patt was great! The
staff was extremely professional and courteous. The process and
paperwork was handled expeditiously and the lower rate helped
me save money!”
In October and November, WPCU made a “crazy” loan payment
for 52 lucky members who had recently chosen WPCU for their
new auto or credit card loan, totaling $10,241 in payments.
Amanda S. - Member since 2010
“Move-in went really smooth and was stress-free. Since
coming to Wright State, I also got my account at Wright-Patt.
I have the Student Essentials and I’m really excited to be a
member. I tell people it’s a better idea to get their account
here. The staff on campus is great and they’re always
willing to help!”
Amanda was one of 27,326 new members who joined
WPCU in 2010.
Joel G. - Member since 1990
“Wright-Patt’s new website is so much easier to use. The layout is much
easier to follow, and the information on the site is very straight-forward
and easy to understand. The new site is a BIG improvement!”
Joel is one of nearly 115,000 members who use WPCU’s online
Home Banking to make managing their finances more convenient.

Board of Directors
Local Communities and Main Street Pride
Wright-Patt Credit Union’s Board of Directors
is a group of volunteers who are elected by the
membership. Unlike for-profit financial
institutions whose stockholders make decisions,
WPCU’s Board of Directors is made up of credit
union members from local communities just
like you. They are your neighbors and
co-workers, and are dedicated to protecting
your best interests. The board members
pictured above represent over 200 years of
combined service to Wright-Patt Credit Union
and its members. Their commitment is vital
to our member-owned, member-focused,
member-driven cooperative model.
