Your choice. Their future. Our family.
Students who study in Years 7, 8 or 9 will follow a curriculum based on the English
National Curriculum. This curriculum places a strong focus on ‘problem-solving’, ‘skills
development’ and ‘knowledge and understanding’. Independent research is supported
and the skills required for completing research questions begin to be developed.
All students in Years 7, 8 or 9 study the following subjects:
• Art and Design
• Design and Technology
• Drama
• English or English Language support
• Geography
• History
• Information Communication Technology
• Mandarin and Spanish. Students in Years 7 8 and 9 study either Spanish or
Mandarin)
• Mathematics
• Music
• Personal, Social and Health Education
• Physical Education
• Science
• Thai Language or Thai Studies.
Our Community Services Programme
We also have a programme of community service and additional creative activities and
skills that takes place on a Wednesday afternoon. In this Wednesday afternoon activity
slot, students actively plan from beginning through to completion tasks that can help our
designated local charities. This must be more than simply fund raising by giving money.
Students must be creative and organised in planning to support a charity by designing
ways to raise funds or gather resources and we want our students to visit and actively
help out at a charity, where possible.
PSHE
Personal Social and Health Education teaches your child the key skills that are needed
to interact with people, look after themselves mentally and physically and gives them
extra life skills that do not fall into any of the traditional curriculum areas.
