Moans and groans of summer reading often accompany the assignment, but the Lynnfield Public Library wants kids to be excited about reading. “One of our big missions is early literacy,” said head of youth services Jonathan Nichols. The library offers a host of activities including story time three times a week. Their goal is to get kids in the door so they will be more eager to pick up a book and read. The library offers a new robotics class every Thursday, and they are finding kids are not only excited about the class, but they are actively reading about the subject. “Grades K-4 have a substantial reading list,” said Nichols. “We try to have at least one copy of everything on the list.” SUMMER READING, PAGE 3 RENTAL LISTING!
