Learn the basics of wheelthrowing<br />

and handbuilding to create functional<br />

and sculptural ceramic artworks in our<br />

professional ceramics studio. Experiment<br />

with surface design and textures while using<br />

glazes to create enduring stoneware pieces.<br />

Wheel Throwing<br />

Develop personal aesthetics and ease of<br />

production while focusing on proficient<br />

throwing and trimming, as well as learning<br />

about popular artists in ceramics. During<br />

this class we will cover the basics of surface<br />

decoration including graffito, mishima, slip<br />

texturing, and stamping. A variety of handle<br />

making techniques and spouts will also be<br />

covered.<br />

Hone your ceramic skills in this class as we<br />

throw, alter and handbuild forms. Explore<br />

lid-making techniques and the construction<br />

of larger forms by joining two smaller ones.<br />

Experiment with handles and textures.<br />

Finally, finish work by glazing for either high<br />

fire gas or cone 6 electric firings. Then enjoy<br />

using your functional vessels in your kitchen!<br />

This 4 week intensive throwing class<br />

will allow students to refine and explore<br />

their craft under the guide of a seasoned<br />

ceramicist, while enhancing and developing<br />

their personal aesthetics. Discuss ways of<br />

marketing, producing, and selling work, and<br />

learn more about the production potter’s<br />

pacing through discussion and hands-on<br />

practice.<br />

Handbuilding with<br />

Textured Slabs<br />

with Audra Clayton<br />

4 Thursdays Feb 8 - Mar 1 6:30pm - 9:30pm<br />

Use a variety of techniques and tools to<br />

explore making functional work using<br />

slabs. Add interest to those works using a<br />

variety of tools you can make yourself. This<br />

class is suitable for beginners who want<br />

to familiarize themselves with clay and<br />

experienced potters who want to explore<br />

new ideas.<br />

Do the Slump!<br />

4 Wednesdays Mar 14 - Apr 4 6:30pm - 9:30pm<br />

$150 members / $175 non-members<br />

Enjoy 4 weeks of using slump and hump<br />

molds to create beautiful serving trays and<br />

small dishes. Students will learn how to<br />

properly prepare slabs for use with molds.<br />

Students will learn how to glaze their pieces<br />

using stencils, underglazes, glazes and<br />

incising into the clay to create a design.<br />
