Sing-As-You-Go Taxis

Carpool karaoke is turned on it’s head, this is the world’s first taxi in which you

pay for your ride by singing! I love this idea because it not only eradicates the

problem of money worries, but it also encourages people to have fun in what

would usually be a mundane scenario in life. And, of course, it adds a little

extra happiness to the world.

Fortum Singalong Shuttle is a taxi service that only accepts singing as

payment. The emission-free rides are operated on electric cars. Singalong

Shuttle will be introduced in Finland in early July at Ruisrock festival.

What if you could pay your ride by singing? Fortum Singalong Shuttle

combines rideshares with Carpool Karaoke - and is purely run on electric cars.

It is the world’s first taxi that you pay by singing. Singalong Shuttle will

operate at Ruisrock festival in Finland 6-8th of July.

Singalong Shuttle is provided by clean-energy company Fortum, who wants to

engage its customers and the society to join the change for a cleaner world.

The company offers a wide range of clean energy solutions and encourages its

customers to live a more sustainable life. Fortum is also actively developing

sophisticated EV charging solutions. Fortum Charge & Drive EV charging

network is the largest one in the Nordics with over 2000 chargers across the

“With Singalong Shuttle we want to show people in a joyful way how

comfortable and easy it is to drive an electric car,” says Fortum’s Brand

Manager Jussi Mälkiä. “The silent electric cars make it possible to enjoy

singing without background noise and emissions,” he continues.

Nev G

Full of enthusiasm and positive energy,

Nev G enjoys sharing her creativity

with the world. The female DJ holds a

huge passion for oldschool music

ranging from various genres including

RnB, Hip Hop, Jungle, Soul and Dance.

She also puts other interests into focus

alongside this, for example her special

shows contain horoscope themes in

which the artists featured are chosen

to correlate with the current month in

the astrological signs - the early June

show featured Gemini artists. Nev G

shares her story with us,,,

Tell us a little about yourself and how

you got into music.

I guess it started as soon as I had access

to a tape recorder. As an only child in

the early 80's - when I was about 6, I was

a bit obsessed with recording my voice

and playing it back. I still have those

tapes believe it or not! I also used to

record Soul music off the radio at the

age of 6 and 7 too. By the time I was 12,

I was very into Pirate Radio stations;

unfortunately this was in 1988, so the

Acid House era had kicked in and I was

too young to go out and rave! So I'd

spend a lot of time in my bedroom

listening to stations like WNK, Lazer,

LWR, Kiss, Fantasy and Dance,

familiarising myself with the music. By

the time I was 13, I was down the record

shop every Saturday, spending all my

pocket money on vinyl. I also grew up

singing in front of large crowds, so I

didn't have stage fright or anything like

that. Any time I saw a band at a function,

I used to ask them if I could sing and

they'd let me! I had hopes of a singing

career and I loved Drama at school so I

went on to study Performing Arts at

college after I left school.

While I was at Barnet College

(1992-1994) I heard Jungle Music on

someone’s walkman and was instantly

converted. I was a self-renowned

Junglette and adored the Junglistic way

of life from that time onwards; the raves,

the production on some of the tracks,

the chemistry between the MC's and DJ's

on stage. The ability to hear my name

being shouted on London's Number One

radio station at the time - Kool FM. It was

a magical time. Music had changed from

the 1988 Acid House and Hardcore eras

and Junglism was an entirely new and

fantastic movement that I still follow

and rave to - to this day!

Then after I left Barnet College in 1994,

I was studying Performing Arts again at

uni when I had a penny drop moment;

why am I pretending to be someone else

on stage (as an actress) when I have this

big personality and a serious

12 www.AudationMagazine.com

eclectic love and collection of music? I

should be in radio! So I left uni in 1997

and sought out a job in Hospital Radio

just for the experience. Within a few

months I landed myself my first radio

show on London Turkish Radio, Tuesday

nights 10pm - 12am called Nev G's

Niteride playing R&B, D&B and HipHop.

I stayed there for 9 years before moving

on to Xtreme FM and then on to Deja Vu

FM - where I have been doing Nev G's

Nostalship for 6 years now, every

Sunday between 6 - 8pm. It has given

me a brilliant opportunity to interview

some great artists and be as creative as

I want, incorporating themes to most of

my shows. For example: Nev G's 100%

Gemini Artist Nostalship - whereby

every artist I play is a Gemini. I give all

dates of birth of these artists and do my

research prior. Also, Nev G's Nostalship

has also given me the pleasure of

interviewing some artists such as Omar,

Conya Doss, Don-E, Karyn White, Joyce

Sims, Tony Momrelle, DJ Kane, Lady MC,

Deman Rocker (Ragga Twins) and

Deman Rocker Ragga Twins on my

Taurus Nostalship

I do love presenting my own show on

radio, but there's something quite

priceless about playing to a dance floor

as well; the reactions are instant. The

blokes find it refreshing that a woman

(and a glam one at that!) is behind the

decks and the women feel rather good

about the fact that a woman is

representing for that hour. It's very

heartwarming when women approach

me to big me up for my set.

Your Nostalship shows take us through

old school music together with special

astrology episodes and readings… Can

you tell us a little about this, are you

quite into spirituality and get vibes

from people?

I am very intuitive about people’s

energies but I don't tell everyone or put

this fact out there on social media. My

spirituality is a very personal thing for

me. Along with a lot of other stuff, I hold

it close to my heart, my feelings

intensify more that way and my intuitive

side is quite private for me.

I've always been in to my fitness regime

and in 2010 I discovered Bodybalance;

it's a cross between Yoga, Pilates and

Tai Chi. It works on all the core muscle

groups with an 8-10 minute meditation

at the end. This adds to my spiritually

connected side. I absolutely love it, it

makes me feel centered, empowered,

strong and all zenned out.

I have been in to astrology since I was a

teenager; my mother was too and I guess

I get it from her. What I would say to the

sceptics is that it's not about your daily

horoscope in the paper that you need

to go by, more the adjectives of

characters described in astrology that

is a really good guide to get an idea of

what people’s characters are like. For

example, I am a typical Pisces in that I

am very emotional, very sensitive,

intuitive, I love the limelight, I am

imaginative, creative, indecisive,

dreamy, I hate confrontation of any kind

and I tend to go with the flow in life

Because I am passionate about

astrology, I have always enjoyed

combining my two passions together,

so every month I do a read up during my

show on the particular sign that we're

currently in. When I have a guest in the

studio, I read directly to my guest on air.

I can happily say that the high majority

of the time I have been congratulated

on my accuracy.

Who would you say are your favourite

old school artists and why?

Oh gosh - that's a big question - there

are sooooo many! I always say that 1994

is my favourite year for R&B and Jungle

but I am going to go with all the R&B

artists from 1992 onwards because that

was such a memorable era and one from

which New Jack Swing was still about

too. These old skool artists would

include Jodeci, Aaliyah, Mary J Blige,

Mariah (my number one of all time), Guy,

Boyz II Men, SWV etc!

In addition to this, I also love PROPER

OLD SKOOL artists like Frank Sinatra,

Nat King Cole and Dean Martin. They

bring out the old soul in me and I just

adore jazz music. I DO have a major soft

spot for Old Skool Reggae too - so you

see, I am very eclectic which I pride

myself on. I have done this feature on

my show which started with Nev G's

100% 1988 Nostalship and I did every

year in-between through to 2006. It

took me nearly a year to do. I enjoyed it

so much that when I got to the end, I did

it all over again! My most enjoyable ones

were 1989, 1994, 1995, 1996 and 2001.

You also present weekday weather

reports for London, how did you get

interested in that? And, if you could live

in only one season forever, which

would it be and why?

Oh the summer, without a shadow of a

doubt! I love letting my skin breathe, I

love my summer wardrobe, I love how

positive and good the sunshine makes

me feel and how my clothes feel on me,

feeling the heat on my skin, driving with

the roof down, the good mood that the

sun puts me in, all the activities that I

can do outdoors, the deep clean at home

and I love playing music really loud at

home with all my windows open so that

all my neighbours can hear it. Ideally I

want to sell up and emigrate and my

ambition is to have a house by the beach.

No idea what country yet, both my

parents are Turkish Cypriot, so it could

be North Cyprus. However, I adore

Jamaica with all my heart so you never

With regards to weather forecasting this

is something that I have wanted to do

since I was a child. I had been typing

weather reports on my social media

status' for a few years when one day, it

was suggested that I should actually go

for it and record daily videos instead, so

I did. In early February this year, I tried

it one day and the response back was

positive, so I stuck to it and committed

14 www.AudationMagazine.com

40th birthday set

myself 6 days a week. Now the response

I get back daily on all social media

platforms is phenomenal! I have been

asked to send over my report on several

social media pages, websites and

groups and the interest is increasing.

It's most heart-warming when viewers

say they have stopped checking their

app's or their TV/Radio because they

prefer my delivery and that they can

decide what they'll wear or do that day.

To hear this is very fulfilling and worth

all my daily commitment with my

research, editing, recording and

sharing. I stick to a 30 second format,

so in that time viewers can hear the

London Weather Summary for today,

tonight and tomorrow. It's quick and to

the point without getting too technical

and viewers do like that.

Any last words?

I didn't mention my other hobby - Nev's

Dessert Island! I have been making and

serving up specific desserts for over 20

years now. I either sell by the slice at

specific events or people buy my cakes

from me as a whole for birthdays or to

have on Christmas Day. I don't do cakes

like a Victoria Sponge or Carrot Cake -

my bestseller is the Chocolate Rum

Cake. I like creating new and naughty

desserts with a different spin on them -

I don't do same old, same old.

I also really enjoy putting events on - I

am seasonal and themed and throughly

enjoy putting this in the mix. I leave no

stone un-turned and this is how my

friends know me I combine my desserts,

my music, my decor, all my contacts, my

friends in the music industry and a

theme for a most memorable event! My

40th in 2016 was by far my most

memorable event - it was organised like

a wedding!

I intend on growing my weather

forecasting much further as they are

gathering great momentum and

support. Ideally I would love to be a TV

presenter. I used to worry that at 42 I

am too old to make my ambitions

manifest but I have been corrected

many a time on that one, so watch this

Aussi libre que moi

Greetings from the island hoping you are all well!

My share is about Calogero, a French artist I first listened to

back in early 2000's.

I love his style, music and lyrics. A Frenchie Rock with much drive

and groove. What I love the most is that Calogero is a bass player

and his bass lines are awesome, punchy and catchy. His song

"Aussi Libre Que Moi" was sounding some weeks ago. The lyrics

were enticing; do not resist, come and embrace a new relationship;

Back at the start of June, days were quite hard especially from a

career perspective, and #tbh was not in a mood to talk about it

or even talk to people. Well, the physical stress was here; being on

the job reveals to be more complicated as the feeling of ownership

(from the top) was nowhere to be found. I needed direction and

Guess what, I'm about to jump from an unknown height to reach

out my goal of being my own boss! The major shift was that I

needed to free myself from old beliefs, standards or preconceptions

of life and embrace a new way of thinking. Reaching out for my

essential needs, and most of all be happy. Things are shaping up

as I am closing my last day as an employee.

I'm sharing with hope that it could be a positive boost for others,

knowing that people are changing, willing to take risks and most of

all believing in their own capacity and dreams.

Thank you for your ongoing support.

Take care at your end. Be showered by light and be blessed.

10 Outstanding TV Theme Tunes

Freeview’s recent advertising campaign poses the question “how many

of these themes do you recognise?” A cleverly produced mash up of

theme tunes commences along with a visual collage effect timed to

match the music accordingly. This got me thinking about what theme

tunes are actually danceable or tunes that you’d listen to off-screen and

enjoy. Here’s my top 10.

1. Big Brother: Big Brother UK TV Theme, by ElementFour (Paul

Oakenfold & Andy Gray)

Iconic. It is notoriously linked to the show, but is also an absolutely killer

trance anthem that you would happily rave to in the clubs. The track was

released and even reached #4 in the UK singles chart.

2. Friends: I'll Be There For You, by The Rembrandts

Another famous song in its own right known from the sitcom, it’s fun,

catchy and you can’t help singing along. This pop song brings everyone

together with a theme of love and friendship through the rollercoaster

of life. The song was released, topping multiple US charts and reaching

#3 in the UK singles chart.

3. Grand Designs: Grand Designs Titles by David Lowe

Both opening and closing are beautiful pieces of music, however the

latter really is extraordinary. The opening is distinct with piercing strings

singing to you in a memorable tune. The closing titles take the same

melody, though this time using light piano touches and feathery charm

around it. It’s very delicate and almost magical. These would be pleasant

accompaniments to an evening ball or special celebrations.

24 www.AudationMagazine.com

4. The IT Crowd: By Neil Hannon

This brings a smile to your face with the easy-going pace, bright synths

and simplicity of production. The memorably tune would work great in

the pop charts with everyone singing “do do do-do”. It’s a track that you

just bop your head to and can fit in a good, leisurely mood.

5. Electric Dreams: By Harry Gregson-Williams

I really love this with a dystopian feel and fragmented structure. The

dark bass, an eerily soft voice and thrilling strings all clashing against

each other yet beautifully moulded. It’s not quite danceable, though

would be the soundtrack to one of those hazy and hedonistic moments.

6. The Ellen DeGeneres Show: Today’s The Day, by P!nk & Greg Kurstin

A feelgood pop song with a motivational tone to suit the inspiring show.

You dance along and enjoy the warmth from the song. The song was

released and ranked well across the world’s charts.

7. Never Mind The Buzzcocks: Unknown

A simple yet strong melody on the guitars, pumping up the energy. This

pop/rock tune is very appealing and gives you a burst of brightness. A

track you’d just rock out to and go wild at the summer festivals.

8. The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air: Yo Home to Bel-Air, by DJ Jazzy Jeff &

The Fresh Prince

Another singalong favourite, this from the talented Will Smith who made

his mark in the music world with a fresh and fun style. This tells the

humorous plot of the show in a relatable, youthful manner. The song was

released exclusively in the Netherlands and peaked at #3 in their singles

9. Footballers’ Wives: Unknown

A simple melody with a pop/garage style. It encompasses the charm of

the game in the lightness, and the raunchy drama with the darker turns.

It’s not quite as bold to stick in your mind, but it is a track that would

work well in the underground clubs of the early noughties.

10. Strictly Come Dancing: Strictly Come Dancing - Theme Tune by Dan

McGrath & Josh Phillips

Full of flavour and vibrancy. This song is elegant, lavish and has a wowfactor

through the exciting brass sections. It would be a perfect pairing

to a fancy or exotic dancing occasion.

This has a

really nice sweet

tone. Let’s be fair,

the lyrics could

the alluring track and

smooth vocals pull

you in.

I both love and hate this track.

The spicy and ultra cool vibe

clashes against a flashy swagger.

It also samples "I Like It Like

Cardi B, Bad Bunny

Calvin Harris & Dua

Lipa - One Kiss

A great track for the poolside

parties this summer with the

theme of love to warm hearts.

The bright dance section is the

highlight to get you moving.

‘Impulse’ by Lee Cassells has a great, strong energy. This is fist-pumping,

jump up, dance all night excitement. There is also a subtle and beautiful call

of an angel as well as so much interesting texture. Bablak's remix is chilled

out with a lovely minimal style.

While some choose to navigate life with a well laid out plan of action, it is

through our natural instinct to operate on impulse that adjusts our path,

opening us up to new experiences that will forever alter destiny as we know it.

When an impulse is met with reaction, like a lightning bolt through the soul

there is no chance of stopping its thunderous effect. Forthcoming July 6, 2018,

on OHM Music, Lee Cassells implores all of the creatures of the night to

succumb to the divine nature of our rhythmic 'Impulse', motivating a vivid

expulsion of energy on the dance floor!

Taking the concept of impulse and morphing it into a brilliant picture of sound,

Lee Cassells bonds industrial tech-centric auditory flavors with an

inspirational progressive flow that implores the body, mind, and soul, to follow

the dark rhythms billowing call. It is in this moment that we let go of our

primitive need to control our surroundings, allowing our animalistic impulse to

take over our psyche, leading us to the precipice of a mind-warping leap into

the great unknown.

With all caution thrown to the wind, we dive in, set free from the bondage of

planned experience. Suddenly, we are met with the pulled back melodic

accents of Bablak who consummates our impulsive journey as he scoops us up

from the depths of Lee Cassells dark dimension, delivering us to new heights

far beyond the shadow-soaked horizon. Enveloped in a full state of spiritual

enlightenment born out of pure and unadulterated spontaneity,

Bablak's remix shows us that even the most overwhelming of influences can

make way for a beautiful release under the electric atmosphere!

Mancunian singer-songwriter Rae Stewart has released her EP ‘Hear

Me’, featuring artfully mixed soulful vocals with 90’s R&B and hip

hop beats. The EP presents Rae’s versatility as an artist and

showcases her unique Destiny’s Child meets Missy Elliot sound. In

Rae’s own words, the release is, “a big accomplishment for me, as I

share some personal feelings of what I've been through in life,

realness only! I hope you love it as much as I do.”

‘Hear Me’ follows a history of success for Rae. Her single ‘Be Down’

landed a place in the top 30 on Music Week’s Pop/Commercial Chart

and ‘Fake Love’ earned the title of DJ Targets Unsigned Artist Song

of The Week on his Tuesday evening show. Rae is a unique artist

whose talents have begun to blossom throughout the past months,

with the added support of her creative team at Northside Media and

also the talents of producer’s Triple B and Manze.

Rae Stewart’s music story began at the young age of three when she

first started singing. By the age of 18 she had already sang and

performed with a group called Venus alongside two other girls from

Manchester. In that time she had also competed on the TV

programme, Asbo Teens to Beauty Queens. It was always clear that

music was going to be a big part of her life.

Rae kicked off the ‘Hear Me’ EP release with a private listening party

in her home town of Manchester. She is booked to perform on an

all-female line up for a charity in Camden on 25th of May. More

shows are planned for the summer, keep checking her social media

for the latest updates.

‘Want U Back’ by Husky ft Letta is a nice and light summer release. The

house production has a chilled atmosphere with a slight old school

groove. The vocals follow a simple pattern yet are effective and loving.

The Scott Diaz remix has a darker club style.

Husky returns with a club ready deep house cut featuring the vocals of

US based vocalist, Letta. Jacked up beats, deep chords and pulsing bass

are in thick supply here, as Husky combines his usual soulful elements

with a slightly grittier groove. It’s ripe and ready.

On the remix we have the UK born but globally known house producer,

Scott Diaz. Fresh from recently remixing records for Defected,

Peppermint Jam, Lovejuice Records and Blockhead Recordings, Scott

always brings a fresh and unique flavor to a remix. Taking the original

melodies and adding his own vocal cuts he has morphed this remix into a

funky but soulful rendition, lathered in his usual bouncing bass and

dreamy chord progressions. Offering up glimpses of his garage roots also,

this really is a class remix that will stand up for the ages.

‘Still’ by Louise Golbey is an endearing, contemporary love song. The subdued

tone together with her sweet and emotive voice pulls at the heart strings. I can

feel my heart race. The sadness of the verses contrast against the main

voice throughout the track with smooth dragging out of ends notes to

gorgeous high tones. The production is subtle yet elegant and compliments the

Following the release of the Deluxe Edition of her ‘Love It Or Leave It’ EP –

Louise’s new single ‘Still’ is a powerful soulful pop ballad co-written with and

produced by Ross O’Reilly (Stealth, Suits). It was included in The Official Charts

The ‘Elements’ EP by Holbrook & Skykeeper is energising. The vibrant dance

feeling of the title track gives a huge lively dose to the system. ’Till It’s Dawn’

takes a darker, edgier route propelling you into a stronger, hard-headed spirit.

Two of Interstate's finest exports are back with their brand new E.P. Holbrook

& SkyKeeper make their much awaited return and deliver a double header in

the form of their fiery 'Elements E.P'.

Opening their E.P with 'Elements', the track instantly emanates that

unmistakable Holbrook & SkyKeeper sound. From the tech infused groove,

raucous stabs and lush euphoric pads, it's another fine execution from these

Next up and continuing with that killer tech vibe, 'Till It's Dawn' offers up yet

more groove fuelled energy from this dynamic duo. Packing a punch from the

off thanks to its infectious groove and heads down affair, the track eases you

into its break which is packed with a moody melody and plenty of energy.

Two more unmissable gems from Holbrook & SkyKeeper!

‘Home’ by Spynex & Lenn-Art is a delightful song about love and finding clarity.

What was I thinking babe? The relaxed atmosphere together with her soft voice

shows the enlightenment. You set my worries free. We drop down into a vibrant,

dance section - the happy place. Overall, it holds a great, warm summer vibe.

Spynex is bringing his brand-new single together with Lenn-Art called 'Home'. Simon

Heylen aka 'Spynex' is working very hard on his musical career and with Lenn-Art he

found the support he needed for his first radio single already having airplay on

Belgium national Radio MNM.

‘Genesis’ by Paul Sawyer maintains a fairly

steady pace and repetitive melody yet is very

distinct and ingrains itself into your mind.

The slight changes in atmosphere and little,

precisely placed textural components add

interest to the piece.

From the man behind Krafted Records we

have a shaker-led sparse, tranquil & hypnotic

helping of forward thinking envelope

tweaking progressive house.

A firm, unyielding

rhythm grips you with its

steely edge. The dark

intensity of 'PDL' by Insane

House spirals deep into your

subconscious, throbbing

through your veins, pulling

you under. Hypnotic.

The ‘Thank You’ collection by Asle is a bright, uplifting release. The Club Edit

has a relaxed, lounge style for those pool parties. The Asle Disco Bias Mix

brings a funky, disco feel which is really fun and flavourful. The Black Legend

Project Remix gets a little dark and dirty on the bass yet also contrasts with

the soulful blend.

’Thank You’ takes you to the middle of a glittery dance floor, to a happy place,

to a day or night you’ll never forget!

Asle is practically Danish house music royalty. The producer & DJ has revisited

one of his favs, going back to his roots with spectacular results. On ‘Thank You’

he manages to skillfully fuse house and a killer disco sample to create a hybrid

track full of uplifting energy, with an effortless flow set to soundtrack your

summer and beyond!

“’Thank You’ came out of me having George Duke as a mega hero of mine. I got

to see him live before he died – and the positive energy he brought to the

stage and to his music is a huge inspiration to me.” Asle

The Black Legend Project (Defected) also get involved on the remix duties,

adding that Italian ‘predisposizione’ with a deeper, more techy interpretation

to perfectly suit the late night crowd.

Over the years Asle has had a string of stand out releases for some of the

biggest and coolest house labels around including Size, Cr2, Off Recordings,

Phoenix, King Street, Toolroom, Whoop! and Yoshitoshi. He has a reputation as

a world-class producer, songwriter, engineer, mastering engineer and remixer

still at the top of his game. ‘Thank You’ is just part of a host of exciting new

material dropping over the summer.

Fun & rebellious!

The ‘Say To Me’ EP by T & Sugah x NCT holds huge energy with a fun dance /

dnb style. The title track is a raving tune with a good vibe. ‘Back In Time’ has a

great build up of excitement together with vocals which grip you. ‘In The Sun

Again’ has really unique sweet vocals and a shift in mood which intrigues.

Dutch producer/DJ's T & Sugah are no longer the new kids on the block. With

releases on labels such as Ram, Hospital, Viper and of course Liquicity these

guys are quickly ascending to the upper echelons of the Drum & Bass world.

Along with fellow Dutchmen and liquid Drum & Bass Heroes NCT, the guys

bring you the 'Say To Me EP'

1 collaboration track, 2 individual tracks, the EP epitomises the shared sound

and musical outlook of both these brilliant production outfits. Melodic, epic,

rolling and anthemic music that will both uplift the listener and have them

dancing their asses off. The EP also features the vocals of Luna Morgenstern &

Laura Brehm respectively whilst the package comes with instrumentals of all

the tracks.

‘Moments’ by Alexis Ffrench is a delicate narration of life’s journey. The

beautiful, playful melodies portray the light, whilst this contrasts against the

darkness which is told through a passionate yet somewhat deeply sad

UK contemporary pianist and composer Alexis Ffrench has marked his return

with the exceptional new single ‘Moments’, taken from his brand new studio

album Evolution - out in September via Sony Music.

Speaking of the themes and meaning behind the new album, Alexis Ffrench

but, above all, our ability to come through adversity and radiate the best

versions of ourselves. This album explores the beauty that lies beneath and

the truths that bind us.”

And of the beautiful new track ‘Moments’, Ffrench notes: “Moments is a piece

that was conceived out of hundreds of tiny fragments that I would hum, record

and collate on my phone. The melodies kept coming back to me, and as I

assembled the many fragments like a jigsaw puzzle, and expanded on themes

at the piano I found I had composed a dark, French-Nuovo piece that I had

really fallen in love with.”

With over 75 million streams to date and now over a million active Spotify

listeners a month, Alexis Ffrench is already an established star in the

streaming world, leading the way for the new generation of classical artists,

with his music speaking to a very wide and diverse audience and transcending

all boundaries and genres. With a brand new album in the works and an

exciting partnership with Modest! Management, home to artists including

Little Mix, Olly Murs and more, 2018 already looks very exciting for this

exceptional musician.

‘Journeys Inapt’ by RDubz is an eclectic blend of oriental influences,

tough moods and electronic playfulness which is described to be of a

cyberpunk genre. The RDubz Back In Time Mix of ‘Place And Time’ by

Colourfelt is a highlight with sweet, enchanting strings and a chilled,

flowing beat. ‘Tick Tock’ brings a rough and gritty feel with a huge dark

bass and clangs of metal. ‘Life In Europa’ has a refreshing and pleasing

warm glow in the atmosphere. ‘Wallow’ is very bright and vivid, almost

opulent with the grand piano and sparkling moments, beautiful

oriental touches follow with an airy essence too - a centrepiece of a

‘Vybe’ by Blasta & Steps is a filthy, hyped up, bass-pumping track. The

lively beat with punchy vocals get you in the raving mood. If you love old

school. The ragga flavour and 90s vibe blend well together. The DJ Dappa

remix is a surprising twist to the tone adding sophistication of the piano

with a siesta feel of the Spanish strings.

Downplay is proud to present the new single from Russian producer

‘Vybe’ is pure summertime fun with an incredible lyrical turn from Steps

AKA Steppa Style, delivering a pitch perfect salvo of MC nostalgia

wrapped up in modern production savvy. The beat switches between 2-

step speaker-shaker to 4x4 chest-rattler with ease, running through a

whole trick bag of FX and percussive cuts that is 100% sunshine.

Rinse FM’s DJ Dappa delivers an outstanding remix on the digital flip,

increasing the summer vibes with a take that includes sweet string

samples and orchaestral stabs to devastating effect. No dancefloor is

going to be safe from this one!

‘Where Do You Go?’ By Mark Hill

has an ultra cool and smooth vibe.

The voice has a velvety depth with

a turn of strength in the

forthright, no-nonsense attitude.

There is a gorgeous sweetness in

the pretty touches of the

production together with a light

bumpy beat.

‘Mojito’ by Megaphonic ft

Devaune is a bright and fun

summer track. The vibrant, feel

good warmth of the production is

perfect for those beach parties,

having fun and possibly finding a

little romance. You’ve got my

heart beat dancing a calypso. The

vocals are sweet and charming,

the visions comes to mind of being

taken by the hand, sparkly- eyed,

and spun around on the dance

50 www.AudationMagazine.com

‘Say I Do’ by DJ Mensah ft Sarkodie has a great, fresh vibe. The

upfront lyrical flow in both English and Ghanaian gives a very

confident proposal to the lucky lady. That’s my baby right there.

The snappy lyrics are contagious with you most likely to be

chanting along to those three memorable title words. She be my

happiness, she be my nightmare. The cool tone of the slick

production pave the way nicely with a little rumble of bass.

The Winner of Best Ghana DJ at the 2017 Ghana Entertainment

Awards USA teams up with the #1 African rapper, the

exceptionally talented Sarkodie for new release ‘Say I Do’,

bringing together a catchy azonto provoking beat and mixing it

with the passions of love.

The ‘Keep Me Warm’ EP by Maya Jane Coles is deliciously dark and

mysterious. The unique and eerie voice is stunning. The moody

atmosphere, varying rhythm and lovely flairs of high notes on the

production are modestly yet beautifully crafted. ‘Go On And Make It

Through’ has more vibrancy though is still stained with spinetingling

vocal cut. ABSOLUTE’s 1AM Remix plays on the darkness

with a deep rumble of bass whilst the 5AM remix is big and thrilling.

Maya Jane Coles delivers a new EP of dark and atmospheric remixes

taken from her sophomore double length album 'Take Flight'.

Teaming up with Brighton based duo GAPS on title track 'Keep Me

Warm', Maya interlaces poignant and hypnotics vocals with her

characteristic and compelling production.

On the remix front fellow Londoner ABSOLUTE serves two energetic

rave infused cuts and while his “1am Remix” of Keep Me Warm will

be available exclusively through Beatport both remixes are sure to

add to the mass of tastemaker support he has received over the last

12 months.

The American songwriter Wendy Rae Fowler who has previously

completed high profile vocal col-laborations with Queens of the

Stone Age and most recently with UNKLE‘s Richard File We Fell to

Earth project lends her dusty and melancholy vocals alongside

visceral guitar chords on the mas-terpiece 'A Chemical Affair.; a

melancholy track arguably motivated by the shadows of Insomnia

that stood out amongst critics upon the release of Maya’s album last

Also on the release, 'Go on And Make It Through' leans towards

Maya’s club focus; providing as-sertive 4/4 beats that are sure to

make it into her summer sets which includes several appearanc-es

at ANTS Ibiza, Pacha and Junction 2 Festival London.

‘‘Take Flight’ which features the original versions of Keep Me Warm,

My Chemical Affair and Go On & Make It Through is available on

Double CD / Heavy Weight 3 x Vinyl Box Set / USB / Digital plus a

limited Deluxe Hardback Book CD format and also be exclusively

available via Maya’s artist store.
