“I was born into a family of many generations of
saddle makers in Europe. My ancestors started
their business around 1691”, says Hanspeter, or
HP as he is also affectionately known around his
workshop. Completing his Master’s Degree in
fine leather craft and design in Vienna, Austria,
he was the youngest to earn this achievement at
the time. He then arrived on the Southern shores
of Africa with a suitcase and his tools. “I soon
realized my passion was to have a place I could
call my own, just like my grandfather.”
Via Veneta is a range housed within the Via
La Moda stable and its designs are sought by
both men and women wanting to express their
individual style and are comfortable in their own
skin.
The exotic leathers used to create our
masterpieces require extraordinary skill and
highly specialised workmanship. No one else
is better qualified to perfect the task than the
Master himself, who, with decades of experience,
could work leather before he could write.

shown, ensuring optimum material usage
and reducing wastage.”
