MarketStreet has just about 

everything. 

There are two dozen places to 

eat, more than 60 stores, and your choice 

of pilates, yoga or body sculpting. 

But the one thing that’s lacking: a movie 

theater. 

Sure there’s Showcase Cinemas 

Woburn, IMAX at Jordan’s in Reading 

and the AMC at the Liberty Tree Mall, but 

Lynnfield is without. 

After failing to get a two-thirds majority 

at a town meeting a decade ago to allow 

National Development to build an 800- 

seat theater with up to eight screens, the 

Newton developer is considering returning 

next spring to win support for the project, 

according to Ted Tye, managing partner. 

The Market Street Advisory Committee, a 

13-member panel chaired by Jennifer Bayer, 

was set to release its recommendations on

Moulton wins Democracy award 

for exemplary public service

Hai-minded plans 

Nearly two years after plans 

for a four-story, 68-unit apartment 

building to replace the Bali 

Hai restaurant was rejected, two 

Lynnfield brothers have proposed 

a smaller project hoping 

to win neighborhood support. 

But twins Matthew and David 

Palumbo ran into a wall of opposition 

in the Al Merritt Media & 

Cultural Center at MarketStreet 

recently with their plan for 32 

apartments in a three-story, 

wood frame complex. 

“I’ve lived here for 60 years 

and I’d rather have a nice restaurant 

there,” shouted one neighbor. 

In a presentation to a dozen 

abutters, Matthew Palumbo, 

29, a Wakefield attorney who, 

along with his brother, manages 

more than 100 units in Greater 

Boston, said the 277-seat restaurant 

would be demolished. In its 

place would be a three-story 

luxury apartment building with 

a mansard roof, he said. 

Under the proposal, much of 

the vast parking lot and its 130 

spaces would be replaced with 

landscaping. The number of 

parking spaces would be reduced 

to 68 for apartment dwellers. 

Palumbo said they have an 

agreement to purchase the 

48-year-old Polynesian-style 

pub, a one-and-a-quarter acre 

parcel assessed at $1.5 million, 

for an undisclosed amount. 

“Not to cast any aspersions on 

the Bali Hai or the Yee family, but 

there are issues that come up when 

you’re dealing with an alcohol establishment,” 

he said. “There’s 

riff raff, disturbances that appear 

in the newspaper, traffic, car accidents, 

and things that come with a 

place that serves alcohol.” 

Learning from the experience 

of the previous developer, 

Monastiero Development, 

Palumbo said he scaled back the 

project by half. The building, 

which faces Route 128 and a 

wall to screen Moulton Drive, 

will include 24 two-bedroom 

and eight one-bedrooms units 

priced from $2,200 to $3,300. 

“We put a lot of thought and 

effort into the design,” Palumbo 

said. “It’s more appropriate and

better suits the character of the 

neighborhood.” 

Mohammad Saeed, an Oak 

Street resident, said he is fully 

supportive of the plan. 

“I want to see the Bali Hai 

gone,” he said. “There’s alcohol, 

people throw bottles, cans, and 

there are fights. Apartments 

would be very peaceful with 

decent people living there.” 

But most of the crowd was 

opposed. 

Benjamin Watkins, who recently 

moved from downtown 

Boston, with his wife, Pamela, 

to a three-bedroom Colonial on 

Locksley Road, said the parking 

is insufficient for the number of 

units. 

“That’s not enough parking 

for residents and their guests,” he 

said. “There is already over flow 

on side streets for the games at 

Newhall Park. I just moved from 

South Boston and I was really 

looking forward to not having 

cars parked everywhere.” 

While Theodore Regnante, 

the project’s attorney, insisted 

traffic for the residential project 

would be less than a restaurant 

that operates at full capacity, 

neighbors rejected that claim. 

They said very few people patronize 

the Bali Hai these days 

and the restaurant has no impact 

on traffic. But having as many 

as 60 new residents on Moulton 

Drive, each with a car, they argued, 

would exacerbate traffic.

“Many of the neighbors 

would argue that an apartment 

building would be detrimental,” 

said Arthur Bourque, 

town meeting moderator and 

Locksley Street resident. 

David Palumbo said despite 

a majority of residents at 

the meeting who opposed the 

project, he thought it went well. 

“We have spoken to lots of 

neighbors, some of them didn’t 

show up, and we wouldn’t have 

gotten this far without the positive 

feedback we’ve received from the 

closest neighbors,” he said 

“Many neighbors have valid 

concerns over traffic and parking 

and we have commissioned 

studies to help address it.” 

Selectman Phil Crawford, 

who attended the contentious 

one-hour session, said parking 

and traffic are major issues in 

that section of Lynnfield. 

“The developer should do 

something to accommodate 

some additional parking for the 

Little League games,” he said.

Town Administrator Robert

But Peter Montesanto, a senior 

vice president at Colliers 

International who downsized 

from a four-bedroom Cape in 

Lynnfield to live in a two-bedroom 

apartment at Market 

Street, said he would love to see 

a theater open. 

“The traffic people complain 

about never really happens,” 

he said. “It’s not bad and I live 

there. On an occasional day at 

Christmas it’s rough, and maybe 

on a Saturday in the spring cars 

might cue up at the rotary. But 

it’s nothing bad, and nothing 

that anyone can’t handle. A theater 

would be great.”

(White), age 95, of 

Lynnfi eld, passed away 

peacefully on June 28, 

2018.

Sheila M. Marshall, 60 

PEABODY — Sheila Marie Marshall, 

age 60 years, of Peabody, 

died Tuesday at her home, surrounded 

by her family after a 

lengthy illness. She was the wife 

of James C. Marshall Jr., with 

whom she shared 40 years of 

marriage. 

Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., she was 

the daughter of the late John W. 

and Mary (Regan) Allen. She 

was educated in Springfi eld 

and graduated from Commerce 

High School, Class of 1975. She 

moved to Peabody in 1979, and 

has resided in Peabody ever 

since. 

Sheila was employed as a 

waitress at the Century House 

for several years, she then drove 

a school bus at the Essex Technical 

School in Danvers for nine 

years until she had to retire due 

to health reasons. She also 

drove the Salem Trolley in downtown 

Salem for several summers. 

Sheila enjoyed sewing, 

crocheting and cooking, was a 

Patriots and Red Sox fan. She 

also loved spending time with 

her grandchildren.

Lynn, she was a graduate of St. 

Mary’s High School, Class of 

1939 and pursued her education 

at Burdett College obtaining 

her associates degree in 

1941. Following her marriage 

in 1942, she and her late husband 

John made their home in 

Peabody. 

Rita was an active parishioner 

at St. Ann’s Church and a 

charter member of its Ladies 

Sodality, a member of the North 

Shore Catholic Charities, St. 

John’s Mother’s Guild, St. William’s 

Guild at St. John’s Prep, 

the Leo Guild and the Friends 

of the Peabody Institute Library

ALLERGIC TO PENICILLIN? 

One of the first questions that patients are asked in emergency 

rooms is: “Are you allergic to penicillin?” While an estimated 10% of 

people have been diagnosed as being allergic to penicillin at some 

point in their lives, only about 1% are actually allergic. According to 

studies that use skin testing for penicillin allergies, about 90% of those 

with penicillin allergy on their medical records are actually not allergic 

to penicillin. Possible reasons for this discrepancy are that an original 

allergy diagnosis was made on the basis of a side effect of an unrelated 

allergy, or that the allergic reaction to penicillin no longer exists. Only 

about 20% of people with penicillin allergies still have them after ten 

years. 

You may experience side effects of penicillin — as happens with 

other medications — that are not an allergic reaction to the drug. 

Depending on the type of penicillin, common side effects may include 

mild nausea, diarrhea, or headache. For more information, please call

You’ve got to be a football hero

LYNN — This one was no cakewalk. 

Friday night’s 57th Agganis Football All-Star Game 

at Manning Field promised a wire-to-wire classic featuring 

the top North Shore talents from the class of 

2018 and it delivered. 

In a back-and-forth battle, Lynnfield quarterback 

Matt Mortellite scored the game-winning touchdown 

as time expired to propel the South all-stars to a 28-26 

win over the North squad. Mortellite scrambled to his 

right and shook off his receiver before diving into the 

end zone after a five-yard rush. 

“There were a lot of good players on that field tonight,” 

South coach Chris Carroll (English) said. 

“There was a lot of talent, great talent from the North 

shore. It was a great year for North Shore football and 

we saw that tonight. I couldn’t ask for a better game.” 

“I was impressed by both sides,” North coach James 

Runner said. “I’m a football fan so I have to be honest 

and upfront. It was good to see so much talent on the 

field at once and it was a great game.” 

The South all-stars ran out to a quick lead in the first 

quarter. Mortellite connected with receiver Geoffrey 

Ingrando (Malden Catholic) on the game’s first possession 

for an 80-yard touchdown strike (conversion 

failed). Midway through the quarter, running back 

Vinnie Gaskins (Salem) found the end zone on a fiveyard 

carry. Eric DeMayo’s (Peabody) two-yard rush on 

the ensuing conversion gave the South a 14-0 lead after 

one quarter. 

The North sliced its deficit in half in the second 

quarter, thanks to a three-yard touchdown run from

28 seconds to boost its lead to 22-7 on a 72-yard 

touchdown pass from Jovan Harding (Cambridge) to 

Ingrando (Gaskins rush). 

North’s Franco Abbatessa (Danvers) plowed his way 

into the end zone for a 3-yard touchdown run, closing 

the first half at 22-13 (conversion failed). 

Quarter No. 3 belonged to the North. Steffan 

Gravely’s three-yard touchdown carry placed the 

North within striking distance at 22-20 (Dillon PAT). 

Abbattessa added another three-yard touchdown rush, 

giving the North its first lead of the night at 26-22 (conversion 

failed). That’s how it stayed at the the end of 

the third. 

“We moved some players from one side to the other,” 

Runner said. “We adjusted our front line. We played 

a bit tougher up front on defense, not allowing them 

to get the outside as much as possible. Aidan Gillis 

(Marblehead), Marlon Scott (St. Mary’s) and Marcus 

Tucker (Lynn Tech) all played tough tonight.” 

Both defenses stepped up to keep the fourth quarter 

a scoreless period until Mortellite, on the final play of 

the game, scored the game-winning touchdown on his 

five-yard scramble. 

“We had a route called in a combo,” Carroll said. 

“We were looking for something on the pylon and it 

wasn’t there. Give Matt credit, he improvised and got 

to the end zone. It’s not how you draw it up but great 

players make big plays. 

“It was intense,” Carroll added. “Everybody was 

trying. You wanted the kids to have fun, which they 

did, but at the end of the day you’re an athlete and you 

compete. Both teams gave it their all and we were fortunate 

to come out on top.” 

Ingrando, who’ll attend Endicott in the final, earned 

MVP honors for the South. St. Mary’s Calvin Johnson, 

who’ll attend Anna Maria, won the North’s MVP award. 

Mortellite dives into Agganis game lore

LYNN — You couldn’t draw up a 

more perfect ending to Agganis week 

and an athletes’ final high school game 

than the closing seconds of Friday 

night’s 57th Agganis All-Star football 

game at Manning Field. 

With seconds left, down by four, at the 

opponents’ five yard line the South team 

found its hopes of pulling out a win in 

the hands of Lynnfield quarterback Matt 

Mortellite. 

He didn’t disappoint. Rolling right, 

Mortellite found himself with just 

enough space to surge for a touchdown 

on the ground, giving his team a win as 

time expired. 

“I rolled right and I was looking for 

[Nick] Kinnon (Lynnfield),” Mortellite 

said. “He was double covered and I just 

saw a little bit of grass and said ‘hey im 

diving for it, no ones stopping me right 

now.’” 

The game-winning touchdown was 

possible thanks to a greatly executed 

drive by the South’s offense in the final 

minutes of play. 

“We really put it together,” Mortellite 

said, “Vincent Gaskins, Anthony 

Murphy, Eric DeMayo, Ski Gaston, 

Tyshawn Anderson, the whole offensive 

line. It was crazy.” 

Earning a win capped off a fun week 

Mortellite said, who was joined on the 

South team one last time with his former 

Lynnfield teammates Nick Kinnon, 

Jason Ndansi, Anthony Murphy and 

Cooper Marengi. 

“We were talking about the game all

week,” Mortellite said. “The coaches 

were really fun we were playing one on 

ones at practice, it was definitely fun.” 

Mortellite, who is heading to Saint 

Lawrence University in New York in 

the fall, saw his season end with injury 

this past fall when he suffered a concussion 

in the Thanksgiving Day game. 

However, he says no one should shy 

away from playing in the Agganis game. 

“To the kids next year that get selected 

definitely play it,” he said. “Don’t worry 

about injury or anything it’s definitely 

worth it. It’s an honor to be picked to play 

in the Agganis Game. I know there’s a 

long list of great Lynnfield players who 

have been picked, so it’s great to be able 

to continue that legacy for our town.” 

Mortellite has been the starter for the 

Pioneers since transferring to his hometown 

school from Malden Catholic in 

his junior year. His numbers in that short 

period of time have put him in a conversation 

among Lynnfield’s best passers 

ever, as he threw for a program record 

1,878 yards in his senior year and also 

broke the program record for career 

touchdown passes with 38. He also completed 

a streak of 20 straight games with 

at least one touchdown pass. 

But the Agganis game was just about 

getting back out on the field with his 

teammates for one final round together 

as Pioneers. 

“We’ve been playing together for so 

long, it (was) great to end it all with 

those guys,” Mortellite said. “I’ve enjoyed 

playing with all of them so much 

over the past couple years and I’m sorry 

it’ll have to end, but this is a good way 

to end it.” 

Ndansi is just as enthusiastic, both 

in how he feels about playing with his 

teammates one more time and in how he 

feels about getting selected to play in the 

game. 

“It feels great to be selected to the 

team, it means a lot,” said Ndansi, 

who’ll continue his football career Tufts 

University this fall. “I worked hard all 

year, so it’s great to be recognized for 

it and to be picked to such a prestigious 

team.” 

Agganis Games Executive Director 

Paul Halloran was also impressed with 

the talent on display Friday night in the 

closing minutes. 

“I typically don’t see any of it but I 

just saw the end of it,” Halloran said. 

“It seemed like a great ending, it would 

have been a perfect ending on Thursday 

night too, but it was a beautiful night to 

play, you couldn’t ask for a better game.” 

Halloran and his group of volunteers 

are the ones to thank for making 

moments like this possible throughout 

Agganis week each summer. 

“We have a core group that come 

every year, it’s not a lot of people but 

they are here every year,” he said. “We 

don’t have a lot of people but the people 

we have are very dedicated. 

“We’re proud of the fact we’re kind 

of the pre-eminant sports festival for 

amateur athletics in the state,” Halloran 

added. “About 300 players this year in 

nine games and the majority of them will 

not be playing college sports so this is 

a last chance to put on the uniform and 

play in front of a crowd. We are proud 

of that.”

Defense the star

LYNN — Defense was the 

theme of the night for the 23rd 

Agganis Girls Soccer All-Star 

Game June 26 at Manning 

Field. At least for the first half, 

that is. 

The North squad found its 

footing on offense in the second 

half, scoring four goals in the 

final 40 minutes to come away 

with a 4-0 win over the South 

squad. 

“They’re all very talented 

players and they all work hard,” 

North coach Tim Phelan, of 

Austin Prep, said. “The thing I 

like most about this game is it 

exposes the girls to the Agganis 

Foundation and all the good 

things they do for the youth of 

the area with college scholarships 

and giving back.” 

“It was such a great time,” 

North coach Chris Coviello, 

of Saugus, said. “The kids had 

a lot of fun. It wasn’t the result 

we were looking for but it is 

what it is. We were able to keep 

up with them in the first half. 

We didn’t have many shots in 

the second half.” 

Peabody’s Jillian Arrigo and 

Emily Nelson, and Lynnfield’s 

Elizabeth Shaievitz each scored 

goals in the second half to 

help lead the North. Nelson 

was named MVP for the 

North, while St. Mary’s Mia 

Nikolakopoulos earned MVP 

honors for the South. 

“It was definitely cool and 

exciting,” Nelson, who’ll 

play college soccer at UMass 

Lowell, said. “I ended my 

high school career with a high

10 years old. It was nice to play 

with her one final time. A lot 

of the girls I played against tonight 

are girls that I’ve played 

with and against in club. It 

was nice to have that friendly 

competition.” 

While she was unable to play 

in the game due to an injury, 

it was exciting nonetheless for 

Lynnfield’s Kate Mitchell, who 

is off to Boston College to run 

track and cross country. 

“To be on a team with Hannah, 

Mack, Syd and Liz again was so 

awesome and cool to see them 

play together one last time,” she 

said. “We have played together 

since we were very little so it was 

so nice to have one last game.” 

After a quiet start to the 

game, the North’s Erin O’Shea 

(Hamilton-Wenham) broke 

through with 32:19 to play in 

the first half. English’s Alexa 

Zayas nearly tied the score with 

26:30 remaining but her shot 

was saved by North goalie Kate 

Mitchell (Lynnfield), who, due 

to an injury suffered at the New 

Balance Outdoor Nationals last 

week, had limited mobility. 

At the end of the first half the 

North led 1-0. 

The North turned its offensive 

attack up a notch in the second 

half and it paid dividends. 

Nelson scored with 35:30 to 

play in the half, then Arrigo 

followed suit with a tally at 

the 33:16 mark. And two minutes 

later, Shaievitz capped the 

rally to turn a 1-0 game into a 

4-0 North lead. Ellen Klucznik 

(Austin Prep) added a goal in 

the closing minutes to cap the 

scoring. 

“It’s great to coach the 

Agganis game,” Phelan said. 

“A lot of them will play in college 

and a for a lot of them this 

is their last game. It’s a great 

experience, a beautiful facility. 

The girls have a good time and 

it’s very enjoyable.”

North surges to 

girls lacrosse win

LYNN — After a close first 

half, the North surged past the 

South in the second half of the 

Seventh Agganis Girls Lacrosse 

All-Star Game to earn a 14-4 victory 

at Manning Field June 28. 

The North squad was led by 

four goals from Jordyn Tveter 

(Masconomet), which earned her 

the North team’s MVP award. 

Fenwick’s Fran Carpinella and 

Rachel Boylan also scored with 

Carpinella netting two and Boylan 

netting one. 

Crusader Colbi Flickinger and 

Lynnfield’s Hannah Filipe and 

Olivia Smyrnios also were selected 

as all-stars. 

“This is my third year being 

able to coach the Agganis games,” 

North coach Kerri O’Connor 

(Ipswich) said. “I really think of 

it as an honor because these girls 

are often my opponents during 

the season so I’m focusing on 

scouting them but it was fun to 

switch gears and actually be able 

to coach them. 

“This game is a fun opportunity 

to see some of the top players 

come together and really work 

together instead of being against 

each other,” she said. 

For the South, Jenna Balboni 

(Billerica) earned MVP honors 

after scoring three goals. 

Smyrnios also added one goal for 

the South. 

“Coming and coaching for the 

Agganis game is always a great 

way to end the season,” outh 

coach Annie Madden said. “To 

see all of the seniors come out 

and play one final game together 

is really a great celebration for 

everyone.” 

The game started off with a 

quick goal from Tveter, but the 

South responded with back-toback 

goals from Balboni and 

Smyrnios within two minutes of 

each other to take a 2-1 lead. 

The North team then scored 

five consecutive goals, two by 

Carpinella, to take a 6-2 lead. 

Balboni added another goal in the 

final minute of the half to make 

the score 6-3 favoring the North 

at halftime. 

The second half started with 

the North’s Machado and Balboni 

swapping goals to put the score at 

7-4. From there on out the North 

dominated, scoring seven unanswered 

goals. 

“I told them, ‘You were picked. 

You’re one of the top players in 

your league so you know how to 

play, you might not know each 

other’s names, but you know how 

to communicate and how to move 

the ball,’” O’Connor said of her 

team. “They did a good job of just 

working together as one big unit 

out there.”

MC’s Bond cashed in at Agganis game

Lynnfield’s Connor Bond of 

Malden Catholic wrapped up his 

high school lacrosse career at the 

7th Agganis All-Star Lacrosse 

Game at Manning Field June 27. 

Bond scored one goal for the 

South, which lost a 10-9 nailbiter 

to the North. 

Bond will attend Harvard this 

fall and will play lacrosse and 

study economic s. was a threesport 

athlete at MC, finished 

the season with 49 goals and 

23 assists, earning all-Catholic 

Conference honors. A 3-year 

varsity veteran, he received the 

team’s Salvatore Mazzei Coaches 

Award for contributions above 

and beyond. 

Bond was also selected to 

the EMass Lacrosse Coaches 

Association/MIAA Academic All 

American team. 

“He had just an outstanding 

season and was the main focal 

point of our offense and the go-to 

guy on both offense and defense,” 

said Lancers’ coach Doug Gallant. 

“He was an unbelievable leader 

both on and off the field and with 

it being my first year, he stepped 

right into a new system.” 

“He is one of those special 

kids who can handle the rigors of 

high-level academics and varsity 

sports, he just gets the job done 

and I am sure he will continue to 

do the same at Harvard.” 

Bond, a captain, was MC’s 

MVP. 

The recipient of the Lancer 

Award for Citizenship, Scholarship, 

Athletics Contributions to 

Malden Catholic and the community 

as a whole, Bond also played 

three years of varsity basketball. 

The honor was one of many 

earned by Bond during his four years 

at MC. He was his class valedictorian 

and the received the Xaverian 

Brothers Award for Academic 

Achievements, Community Service, 

Athletic Achievement and 

School Contributions. 

He also received the John 

Sardosa Award for Excellence in 

Athletics as the Lancers’ top student-athlete 

and was vice president 

of the National Honor Society, a 

member of the Spanish National 

Honor Society and the recipient of 

the English Department Award for 

achievement in English. 

The decision to attend Harvard 

was simple, Bond said. 

“My mom (Eileen Bond) went 

there and she loved it so it was 

always a possibility depending

on getting my grades up,” he said. 

“Last year I volunteered there when 

they hosted Special Olympics, so 

I got to really explore the campus 

and liked it a lot. I also visited last 

summer with my mother, so I decided

found out December 12 that I was 

accepted, so it ended up being a nobrainer. 

It just took all the pressure 

off as I knew I was in before the 

January deadlines for most other 

colleges, so it was a big relief.” 

Bond was not the only member 

of his family to be recognized for 

excellence by Malden Catholic. 

His younger brother Hayden Bond, 

who saw action this year on the 

varsity soccer, basketball and baseball 

teams, was the recipient of the 

Brother Kevin Kenny Award given 

to the top freshmen for athletic and 

academic achievement. 

As far as his lacrosse career 

goes, Bond said he is already in 

training. 

“I’ve talked to the coach and I 

will be able to tryout in the fall, 

so right now I’m spending the 

summer working out to be ready 

for that,” he said.

LYNN — Everything was 

clicking for the Lynnfield 12- 

year old Little League All-Star 

baseball team Friday as it rolled 

to a 10-3 win over Saugus 

American in a District 16 game 

at Gallagher Park. Despite 

falling behind early, Lynnfield 

scored in its first time at bat and 

never looked back en route to 

a win. 

“Everyone contributed tonight 

right from the first inning,” 

said Lynnfield coach 

Matt Adamo. “Not only that, 

but we made a lot of really hard 

outs today. That was very good 

to see.” 

Lynnfield was led on offense 

by Anthony Grabau (1-for-3), 

who belted a three-run homer 

in the first. Nick Groussis was 

3-for-4 with a couple of runs 

scored, while Tyler Adamo (1- 

for-3), Nathan Lopez (1-for-3) 

and Nick Hubbard (0-for-2) 

had RBIs. 

Lynnfield also got a strong 

pitching performance from 

Lopez, who pitched 5 2/3 innings 

and allowed one unearned 

run on six hits with 12 

strikeouts. 

“Nate was fantastic tonight,” 

said Matt Adamo. “He’s a big, 

tall lefty who throws hard, and 

you can’t get enough of that. He 

threw a lot of strikes tonight and 

kept Saugus off balance.” 

Saugus American jumped out 

to a 1-0 lead in the first, but the 

lead was short-lived. 

Groussis led off with a single 

and reached second on a walk to 

Christian Rosa. Both moved up 

a base on a wild pitch to set the 

table for Grabau. After fighting 

off a couple pitches, Grabau got 

a hold of one and sent it over the 

right-centerfield fence to give 

Lynnfield a 3-0 lead. 

In the third, Adamo led off 

with a double and scored on 

wild pitches. Rosa walked and 

scored on Hubbard’s ground 

out. With two outs, Matt Papagikos 

kept the rally going with 

an infield hit. He advanced to 

second on a single by Jared 

Scoppettuolo and scored on a 

single by Lopez to make it a 6-1 

game. 

Saugus added a run in the 

fourth, but Lynnfield answered 

with three, all courtesy wild 

pitches in its half of the frame. 

Groussis led off with an infield 

single and advanced to 

third on Rosa’s single. Backto-back 

wild pitches brought 

both runners home. Grabau also 

walked and scored on a wild 

pitch to make it 9-2. 

A sac fly in the fifth by Adamo, 

scoring Ryan MacEachern, on 

base with a walk, capped the 

scoring for Lynnfield.

ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF PEABODY 

BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of Peabody as follows: 

SECTION ONE: That the Zoning Ordinance of the City of Peabody entitled, City of 

Peabody Zoning Ordinance Adopted April 28, 2011 and amended through July 18, 

2017 is hereby further amended as follows: 

By repealing the following Section 6.14 entitled Temporary Moratorium on the 

Sale and Distribution of Recreational Marijuana: 

There shall be a temporary moratorium through December 31, 2018 on the usage 

of land or structures for a Recreational Marijuana Establishment and Marijuana 

Retailer which use shall include, without limitation, the operation of any marijuana 

establishment, as defined in G.L. c. 94G, Section 1, including, without limitation, a 

marijuana cultivator, marijuana testing facility, marijuana product manufacturer, 

marijuana retailer or any other type of licensed marijuana-related business. This 

prohibition shall not apply to the sale, distribution or cultivation of marijuana for 

medical purposes licensed under Chapter 369 of the Acts of 2012. 

And adding in place thereof the following new Section 6.14 as follows: 

6.14 Marijuana Establishments Prohibited 

The operation of any marijuana establishment, as defined in G.L. c. 94G, Section 

1, including, without limitation, a marijuana cultivator, marijuana testing facility, 

marijuana product manufacturer, marijuana retailer or any other type of licensed 

marijuana-related facility, is prohibited in all zoning districts of the City. This 

prohibition shall not apply to the sale, distribution or cultivation of marijuana for 

medical purposes licensed under Chapter 369 of the Acts of 2012. 

SECTION TWO: All ordinances or parts of ordinances inconsistent herewith are 

hereby repealed. 

SECTION THREE: This ordinance shall take effect as provided by law.
