READY.

SET.

SUMMER.

We have everything you need at rosypenguin to get you ready for the summer days ahead.

There’s no need to shy away from the summer styles, we should don our loveliest of things, get

those bikinis on and wobble those wobbly bits proudly! Whether you are having a beach holiday,

city break or a staycation, here are some top tips to nail the summer trends this season.

Hot tropics

Everything has gone bright with clashing print and tropical

motifs. Fabulous. Think club Tropicana. Think palm prints,

jewel colours and big accessories.

we love Saint Tropez’s bold print kimono £69 paired with

inwear’s white button down skirt £45.

Essentials are our Nali plam leaf earrings £15, our tropical

Byeloise bobble bands from £4.90

Brighton Beach

To get this staycation look, go for Spots or stripes in deckchair

colours, slogan tees, bright vests and printed scarfs.

Pair with metallic accessories and footware and you have

this look nailed. Boom!

We love cara’s silver sandals £85.

For sunny days try our French connection white jeans £69,

apostcardfrombrighton pink vest £30 and one of our becksondergaard

cotton scarves from £25.

Global Traveller

To get this look think globe trotter, eccelectic mix of fabrics

and add as much beads, fringing, and tassels as you

can handle! We love our tiger feet espadrills £65, our

beaded ombre scarf £49, cool nali shades £32.50 and paperchain

beads from £22.

For instant cool try Numph’s leaf print kimono £55 over

your swim suit or pair with vest and favourite jeans.

As easy as that.

Pop into rosypenguin anytime we would love to see you or you can book a free personal styling

appointment with me Judith. The pups, Zita and Panda would love to see you too!

Summer is when your soul is in bloom. I’m sure we all feel it in our body – the warmth,

the renewal and the strength inside us. Just as nature is waking up, Summer is the time

to eat fresh, fragrant flavours to kick start your senses.

Whereas winter is the season for hearty, warming stews and earthy root vegetables,

Summer demands zingy, vibrant flavours to rejuvenate your taste buds.

That’s why at this time of year, I love the full flavoured spiciness of Dukkah, an Egyptian

nut and spice mix. It keeps in an airtight jar for a couple of weeks and you can use

it as a complement to almost anything.

“I love it sprinkled on top of eggs in the morning, mixed into

yogurt as a dip with warmed pita bread for lunch, or as a crisp and

tasty crust on fish, such as Halibut, for dinner. It’s also delicious sprinkled

over grilled broccoli, avocado and sourdough - the list is endless.”

Think of it as your new salt and pepper and it will soon become your pantry’s best

friend.

These spices not only taste great but are also invigorating for your health. Coriander,

cumin and fennel seeds support digestion, aid insomnia and with high sources of iron,

they’re a boost to your immune system.

Pistachios, cashews and hazelnuts are super rich in vitamins and minerals as well as a

great source of protein.

What more could you want for a healthy, clean mind, body and soul?

Drop me a line at www.nicholapearce.com and let me know your favourite Dukkah

combination - I’d love to hear from you.

Cramond Residence, Edinburgh’s newest care

home, will open its doors later this summer and

provide the finest care for older people, including

nursing, respite and dementia care.

The much-anticipated care home, located in the

tranquil village of Cramond, is designed to promote

small community living. It comprises of

nine distinct houses, each with eight or nine

generous en-suite bedrooms, as well as a selection

of shared lounges, dining areas and activity

spaces, creating a real home-from-home feel.

Outside, beautiful gardens provide a peaceful

place to walk, sit, and relax, while the top-floor

terrace features spectacular views across Cramond

to the Firth of Forth. Exclusive, deluxe

rooms with patio doors leading onto a private

garden or balcony are also available.

The interior of Cramond Residence reflects

areas across Edinburgh through the mix of materials,

colour, art and objects used in the design.

Creating and cherishing memories is also

an important part of the care we provide and

picking up on historical themes of the city gives

a sense of nostalgia.

Lovers of the outdoors will enjoy the quirky,

pheasant wallpaper in Braid Hills House, reflecting

the area’s wildlife, and admirers of the arts

will appreciate the gold frames and navy walls

of Belford House – a nod to the National Gallery

of Modern Art.

Further tributes are found throughout, with

bread tin accessories reflecting the old bakers

and millers of Dean Village and even a tribute to

Greyfriars Bobby in the colour palette of

Greyfriars House.

Our positive approach to care promotes independence

and care plans are bespoke and suited

to individual needs. Residents are supported

to live fulfilling lives and our exclusive partnership

with physiotherapy provider, Balanced

Edinburgh, offers a range of optional complementary

therapies.

Life at Cramond Residence is designed to offer

something to suit everyone. From art classes to

being pampered in the salon, or watching a film

in the private cinema, the care home is a truly

special place to live.

It is managed exclusively by Walker Healthcare,

which has over 20 years’ experience leading

successful healthcare partnerships and operational

management of well-respected care

homes.

With our opening date now fast approaching,

we welcome you to come along to our Information

Suite to view a sample ensuite bedroom

and lounge and note your interest. Visit 49 Cramond

Road North, Edinburgh, EH4 6NQ or contact

Dorothy Brown on 07971992843 to book a

private appointment.

Sports enthusiasts will be at home in Ravelston

House, where golfing hats displayed on hat

stands and check curtains pay homage to the

classic attire worn at Ravelston Golf Club.

News from Merchiston Community Council

MCC does not hold public meetings in the summer months but we are still contactable by any local

resident who has concerns about a planning or licensing application, parks or green spaces, antisocial

behaviour, parking, traffic regulation, recycling or any local service provided by the City of

Edinburgh Council. Along with other community groups we had a stall at the recent Meadows

Festival where we enjoyed meeting and talking with a large number of people living and working in

our area. Over the summer we will be keeping an eye on the various events taking place on the

Meadows, especially during August when The Underbelly Circus Hub comes to town. Do get in touch

if there is anything you think we should know about.

Our next meeting will be at 7pm on Tuesday 18th September in the Merchiston & Polwarth Tennis &

Bowling Club, Polwarth Terrace.
