Interviewer: “So first, I am just gonna ask you your name and your role in the company that you work for.“ Enzo Bertolini: “So my name is Enzo Bertolini, and I am working for Ferrero, the candies and the confectionery producers. And I am appointed to the role of the Group CIO.“ Interviewer: “So in your role as Group CIO at Ferrero, you were recently facing a business challenge. Um, can you describe that business challenge to us?” Enzo Bertolini: “Yeah, sure. So, uh, the major business problem that we are facing, uh, starting from the 2000s to now is exactly what, many other companies are facing. And so is the way in which, uh, we can compete in a global scale, in order to able to reach, for instance, uh, the emerging market from one side, uh, or to came out of, our niche cash cow countries and, uh, and other business challenge. Very, very interesting for us is to transform us from a, a local niche of products in, in a more global brand, in all over the world.” Interviewer: “Yeah, Ferrero, right. Try to say Ferrero. So, as a CIO, you described, some of the business challenges that Ferrero was facing. Um, but how was Accenture able to help you with those business challenges?” Enzo Bertolini: “So, related to this business challenge, uh, the company started a program - a huge program in 2003 in order to transform also the organization and the information system that support processes in the group. And, so, uh, Ferrero, um… Sorry. Uh, Accenture became a partner of us during this long journey that starting in 2003 and is not, uh, deal, uh, finished.” Interviewer: “And so that… We have been partnering with you for a long time. Hopefully this is a good relationship? Can you describe our teaming?” Enzo Bertolini: “Yes, the relationship, between Ferrero and Accenture is quite good. Uh, we start from the information system point of view. Recently we sign a BPO, outsourcing a contractor related to the order… Um, sorry. To the… Ahhh, sorry.” Interviewer: “No, no, don’t worry, it’s OK.” Enzo Bertolini: “No, no problem.” Interviewer: “Uh, and so the relationship between Accenture and Ferrero…” © 2010 Accenture All rights reserved.
Enzo Bertolini: “So the relationship between, uh, Ferrero and Accenture are very good. Uh, so we start from the information technology sides. And then more recently, we arrive to, uh, sign some BPO contractor in the final sector, so. And, uh, so we are trying to perform together, with the mutual satisfaction, these type of things.” Interviewer: “What’s that iron division for this program?” Enzo Bertolini: “So we are, um… Uh, we plan to finish the programs next year, so in 2011. Uh, now we have, uh, reached a huge coverage of, uh, modern 85 percent of the major processes in the group. Uh, this program - the name of this program is, um, GEA. That means Global Enterprise Architectures. And because it is something, uh, we want to transform our company from a confederation of system, hmmm, company into, uh, a real multinational group, trying to make the best processes that we perform in, in such countries and some countries and to extend this best practices also through the groups and it became, uh, more efficient in term of, uh, processes - business processes at least. They are supporting by, uh, the information system, uh, at a glance.” Interviewer: “So your key transformation is a very long journey.” Enzo Bertolini: “Yeah.” Interviewer: “Right? And you have been working on this since 2003. Are there some key milestones, achievements or business value that you have seen so far?” Enzo Bertolini: “Absolutely, yes. Uh, and it is also something that we try to achieve, uh, in order to demonstrate, uh, you know, not only to the clients but also, uh, to the business managers that we are, hmmm, performing the, the good, uh, the right way, you know? Term of, uh, supporting, uh, as better as possible our ability to compete in the market. For instance, uh, so we did, very huge, uh, planning, starting from the demo side to the proaction planning. And, uh, and this is something that changed etc. in a very deep way - the, the attitude and also the habits that the company have, uh, to relation to the major relationship between the, the demo and the market side to the factories. And this is something that, um, witness the, the improvement that, uh, that we have done in these years because recently we have some trouble, trouble on the, on the raw material markets and that we are, hmmm… We were able to manage in a good way this problem of shortage, uh, to assigning the right partners to the right markets. And it’s something that in the past was, uh, absolutely impossible to do it in this, uh, efficient way.” Interviewer: “Can you talk about your SAP?
