The Martina Gebhardt System
Martina Gebhardt’s skincare system is based on the familiar routine of Cleanse, Tone, Moisturise.
Yet Martina’s holistic knowledge of the skin’s needs has resulted in a unique, even simpler and faster
daily routine, which brings effortless radiance, health and natural beauty to all skin types.
Morning Care
Each product needs only to be used once a day, in accordance with the principle that less is more.
1. Rinse – in the morning just rinse with cold water, unless you have been using a very oily cream at
night, in which case simply use the appropriate cleanser for your skin type. Why only with cold water?
At night, your skin detoxes using a perspiration process. Cold water dissolves and sloughs away any
residue of your skin’s detoxification far easier than warm water can, leaving your pores closed and
your skin glowing. You can use warm water after the cold if it feels good, but always start and end
with cold.
2. Tone – after a stimulating rinse, gently dry your face and neck, and apply the tonic, lightly patting it
into your skin to further refresh, revitalise and stimulate your skin.
3. Moisturise – apply the moisturiser to still slightly damp skin. Just a small amount is enough.
All products should be applied sparingly, nurturing rather than inhibiting the skin’s own functions.

Evening Care
Cleanse – in the evening, just cleanse with the cleanser and warm water.
Massage into your skin, paying attention to any mascara, eyeliner, etc., and
rinse off with lukewarm water, using a muslin if you wish. The cleanser will
deliver enough moisture to protect your skin overnight, whilst still allowing
your skin to breathe.
This vital nightly breathing process of your skin eliminates toxins. If you apply
a cream at night, it will actually obstruct these toxins from reaching the surface
of your skin, inhibiting its ability to breathe. When first starting with the Martina
Gebhardt system your skin will go through a 30 day detoxification process, just
like when you make a significant change to your diet.
Some people will notice this adjustment period more than others, especially
if your skin has been used to heavily preserved creams; in this case Martina
recommends using the tonic a couple of times a day to accelerate the detox
process. Most skin however adapts very happily within the first 7 days, and
with a sigh of relief! If you do prefer more moisture during the night, Martina
recommends using a small amount of either the lotion or cream for your skin type.
Seasonal Care
In the summer, Martina recommends using the lighter facial
lotion appropriate for your skin type, and in winter, the richer
skin cream. You can also blend the two together to create
a perfect consistency of moisture for your skin’s needs
throughout the year.

Ingredients and Formula
Today’s cosmetic industry has unfortunately succumbed to the use of chemical bases and mineral oils
that are easy to handle, extend a product’s shelf-life to years, and which give creams a brilliantly white
appearance. Martina’s understanding is that this has resulted in the ever growing number of allergies and
skin diseases that we now see.
Martina Gebhardt’s skincare range offers a natural, holistic alternative. Knowing that the quality of a skincare
pro duct depends primarily on the freshness of the raw materials and the quality of processing, Martina uses
only the freshest herbs and oils, obtained from certified organic and Demeter cultivation.
The Martina Gebhardt skin creams have a moisture content of around 50%. Herbal extracts in pure spring
water are blended with about 50% plant oils, waxes and lanolin. This ratio corresponds to the composition
of the hydrolipid layer (the lipid-moisture ratio), of optimally healthy skin, and so with use they encourage
balanced and healthy skin.
Beeswax and lanolin are superb, nourishing, base-materials for cosmetics. They contain a natural emulsifier
that smooths the skin, leaving it elastic and soft.
The addition of pure essential oils, propolis and rose water naturally reduces bacterial growth, and act as
gentle preservatives.
Our ancestors around the world had a vast knowledge of celestial rhythms and how they affected the
preparation of natural products, especially herbal remedies and cosmetics.
In ancient times the preparation of body care products was in the hands of medicine men and healers. They
observed the rhythm of the stars and the moon and discovered that plant extracts prepared at certain times
had significantly greater healing powers than when they were prepared at other times.
