he 129th Annual <strong>Yankalilla</strong><br />
T Show will be held on Saturday<br />
October 1st <strong>2011</strong>, being the<br />
Saturday of long weekend. The<br />
gates are open to the public from<br />
9am until 4pm. Admission is $10.00<br />
for adults and $5 for pensioners<br />
(aged pensioner only), children 5 –<br />
15yrs $5.00 with under 5 free. This<br />
year’s show will be opened<br />
officially by Amanda Blair<br />
acclaimed radio announcer at 12<br />
noon. A show is not a show without<br />
rides, amusements and show bags<br />
for the kids. The family can also<br />
enjoy live entertainment, dance<br />
performances, craft and trade stalls,<br />
photographic displays and<br />
traditional pavilion exhibits. Don’t<br />
forget to call in at the Show Bag<br />
Kiosk for your show bags or drop<br />
into the Show Bar for a drink. The<br />
main stage is crammed full of live<br />
entertainment, check the programme<br />
for the day’s line up. This year’s<br />
features include wood chopping<br />
with the Country Axe Men, they<br />
will be doing 6 shows throughout<br />
the day, check the programme for<br />
details. Also we have Wobbles the<br />
Clown to entertain the crowd,<br />
Animal Capers – hands on wildlife<br />
display and <strong>Yankalilla</strong> Cruise<br />
classic cars. There will be several<br />
shearing demonstrations throughout<br />
the day by John Hutchinson our<br />
local Shearers Hall of Fame<br />
recipient. Also featuring this year’s<br />
show will be woodcutting, show<br />
jumping, horses in action, yard<br />
dogs, sheep, stationery engines,<br />
camel & pony rides, animal nursery<br />
and wine tastings and sales by local<br />
wineries. Check the main hall for<br />
our memorabilia room display,<br />
veggies, flowers, home brew,<br />
photography, cooking, needlework,<br />
handicraft and our children’s<br />
competition. Featured in the green<br />
shed are our art show and the<br />
famous Yankabald Art competition.<br />
We are looking for volunteers to<br />
help set up during the week before<br />
show, on show day and on the<br />
Sunday clean up day. If you are able<br />
to help in any way please phone<br />
Gail or Betty or just turn up at the<br />
grounds any day from Sunday the<br />
25th through until Show Day, there<br />
will be volunteers on the ground<br />
from 9am until 4pm every day. Any<br />
assistance is greatly appreciated as<br />
there are many jobs both large and<br />
small that need to be done.<br />
